OneThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomplayer recently showed off his impressive working paddle boat. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomlaunched on May 12, and players are having a lot of fun with the game’s new Ultrahand features, creating various structures and vehicles.
Tears of the Kingdomtakes place not long after the events ofBreath of the Wild, making it one ofThe Legend of Zelda’s relatively few direct sequels. While the core gameplay remains largely the same,Tears of the Kingdomgives Link access to various new powers. These include Recall, which reverses time for an object; Fuse, which lets players craft weapons; and Ascend, which lets Link travel through surfaces above him. However, Ultrahand is the main event, allowing players to flex their creativity by designing custom buildings and vehicles.

Reddit No-Frogs is one such player and recently shared somevehicle designs fromTears of the Kingdom. Yesterday, he posted a clip of his design for a paddle boat. They built the craft around a wooden plank deck with a log functioning as a pontoon. No-Frogs positioned the steering mechanism at the bow, with vehicle wheels on either side. The wheels spin a pair of wooden paddle wheels, which propel the boat forward.
The boat has trouble casting off and bounces wildly as the paddles strike the ground. The wheels are only there to spin the axles for the paddles and are no help traversing the sandy shore. However, the ride gets much smoother once it moves into deeper water. Perhaps somecleverTears of the Kingdomplayerwill find some way of raising and lowering the paddles to create an amphibious vehicle. Then again, it might be simpler for the player just to build a dock.
This is the second boat that No-Frogs created and shared on theTears of the Kingdomsubreddit. The first was a much more elaborate design built around a pair of wooden pontoons featuring fans and paddles to push it across the water. The latter uses a very different design, each featuring three rotating wooden slats lined up end to end. No-Frogs mentioned in a comment that they tried to make a double-decker boat, but it was too heavy to move.
Interestingly No-Frogs’ boat resembles one of the vehicles fromLegend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomtest footagethat surfaced a few days before the game’s release. No-Frogs’ boat is a much smoother ride, however, and the resemblance can likely be chalked up to the limitations ofTears of the Kingdom’s vehicle construction.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomis out now for Nintendo Switch.
