World of Warcraftrecently added an NPC toDragonflightthat shows what Demon Hunters have been doing since the defeat of the Burning Legion. This humorousWorld of Warcraftcharacter shows how some of the Illidari have dealt with being out of a job since theLegionexpansion.
Izal Whitemoon is a minor Illidari Demon Hunter character players encountered duringLegion. The Night Elf acts as the class trainer aboard the Fel Hammer, the Demon HunterOrder Hall inWorld of Warcraft. She also acts as the flight master in various places around the Broken Isles.

Now, it seems Whitemoon has retired from service to take up Pet Battles.World of Warcraftadded her as a new World Quest Pet Battle NPC in the Azure Span in Patch 10.0.7. There, she fields three flying pets named Mothoroth, Blu’jaeden, and Kazzquack – each a reference to some of thestrongest members of the Burning Legion inWoW. According to her dialogue, Whitemoon took up Pet Battles to keep busy afterLegion, and says it is almost as much fun as hunting demons.
TheDemon Hunter class was first introduced inLegion. While the class was a perfect fit for the demon-centric expansion, the defeat of the Burning Legion at the end of it left many players wondering what the Illidari would do from then on.Battle for AzerothandShadowlandslargely ignored the Illidari, but Whitemoon’s appearance inDragonflightfinally gave players a comical answer as to what some Demon Hunters have been up to over the last several years.
A lot of players got a kick out of Whitemoon’s reappearance inDragonflight. They found it hilarious that such hardcore warriors decided to becomepet collectors inWorld of Warcraft, and shared what other occupations they believed their Demon Hunter characters would have taken up recently. Many players agreed they would love to see more Demon Hunters doing mundane pastimes to keep their skills sharp in the future.
That said, plenty of players are dissatisfied withWorld of Warcraft’shandling of Demon Hunters. Though players were excited when the class was first added, some believeWoWfumbled by not showing what happened to Demon Hunters afterLegion. This was even more evident when players contrasted them to the Death Knights, who were givenfurther development after defeating their own nemesis inWrath of the Lich King. If players are lucky, Whitemoon is the first of many steps to show how someWorld of Warcraftcharacters are adapting to a more peaceful life inDragonflight.
