Among the projects done byWorld of Warcraftfans, maps of other locations done in the style of the in-game Azeroth world maps are among the most popular. OneWorld of Warcraftfan has crossed the streams between the MMO titan and FromSoftware’sElden Ringby making one such world map of The Lands Between.

TheWorld of Warcraftcrossover mapwas made by artist and game designer Mario Cayuelas Ruiz, known on the internet as AZA. The mapping project itself was created using Adobe Photoshop, practice, and a lot of patience.

AZA’s map of The Lands Between contains incredible levels of detail. While manysimilarWorld of Warcraft-style maps use assets and themes fromClassic WoW, his share the vibrancy and color of later maps, like those found inLegionandBattle for Azeroth. The map uses many original assets, giving it a truly unique feel. Its style is both definitivelyWorld of Warcraftwhile being easily-recognizable as the world map fromElden Ring.

A talented level designer, AZA has spearheaded several projects in the past, including a multiplayer map forUnreal Tournamentand multiple 3D platformer puzzle games. He also has experience withmapmaking in theWorld of Warcraftstyle. He created maps of several regions in Spain, including his hometown Murcia, and spearheaded an expansiveWorld of Warcraftfan expansion project, which includes several unofficial maps of his interpretation of the Ethereal homeworld of K’aresh.

As one might imagine, bothWorld of WarcraftandElden Ringfanswere instantly charmed by AZA’s map. Some fans wished there was a way to replace the in-game map with his version, and now want to see iconicWorld of Warcraftzones mapped out in the style ofElden Ring’sworld map. The map caused some fans to speculate whatElden Ringwould look like as a Blizzard game, orWorld of Warcraftif FromSoftware developed it instead.

ThoughWorld of Warcraftfans have been creating maps of both real locations and those from other games in the style of Azeroth world maps for a while, it has recently become even more popular.World of Warcraftmaps ofSkyrim, Europe, Australia, and the United States have been made by several artists, each with their own unique takes on the project. At this rate,World of Warcraftfans will have representations of every region in both the real and digital worlds in the style of the MMO’s world maps.
