The protagonist of the originalDying Lightgame and itsstandalone expansionThe Followingwas a man by the name of Kyle Crane, who became a popular figure for fans of the franchise. Some were disappointed when they found out that Kyle Crane wouldn’t be returning inDying Light 2 Stay Human, and while it’s true that Crane is not in the game, there is an amusing Easter egg about him that players can find.

As shown in a YouTube video by Best Gamer Ali,Dying Light 2players can go to the corner of Lower Dam Ayre in the Central Loop to find a Kyle Crane Easter egg. Players will have to advance quite a ways throughDying Light 2’s main story before they can access this area, so it’s not something that new players can simply rush to. In any case, upon arriving, players will find a shipping container suspended in the air by a crane.

Dying Light 2playerscan then use a lockpick to break their way into the container, though they may want to verify that they have some extras on them just in case because the lock is “Hard” difficulty. Upon entering the container,Dying Light 2players will discover a memorial to Kyle Crane, as well as an audio recording detailing some of his exploits following the events of the original game.

If players listen to the Kyle Crane audio recording and sit on the nearby bed (it will prompt players to “sit by the campfire,” oddly enough), then a gift will spawn on the table at the back of the room. Players can grab the gift to get the “It’s Me…Marian!” common sneakers. These sneakers giveDying Light 2protagonist Aidenthe ability to triple jump, which is a clear reference toSuper Mario 64.

Some may be wondering why Techland would combine theKyle Crane Easter eggwith aSuper Mario 64reference, but fans of the originalDying Lightgame will likely know where this is coming from. As some may recall,Dying Lighthad aSuper MarioEaster egg where players could play through a first-person version of World 1-1 from the originalSuper Mario Bros., albeit with goombas replaced by zombies. So it seems that this newDying Light 2Easter egg is trying to tie things back to the original game in more ways than one.

Dying Light 2has a massive open world, so it’s quite possible that there are even more Easter eggs that fans have yet to discover. They should keep an eye out, but in the meantime, they may want to collect theSuper Mario 64sneakers from the Kyle Crane memorial.
