Every month,Pokemon GOhosts a Community Day event that gives players the opportunity to catch more shiny Pokemon and better-complete their Pokedex. May 2022 is no exception, with developer Niantic recently confirming whatPokemon GOfans can expect from next month’s Community Day festivities. However, it seems that manyPokemon GOplayers aren’t exactly thrilled with what the May 2022 Community Day has in store.
ThePokemon GOMay 2022 Community Day eventstars Alolan Geodude and takes place on Saturday, May 21 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm local time. During that window,Pokemon GOplayers will be able to find a ton of Alolan Geodude out in the wild, with a much greater chance of finding a shiny one to add to their collection. SomePokemon GOplayers may be excited about the opportunity to get Alolan Geodude and its evolved forms, but others have taken issue with it.

One of the main reasons whyPokemon GOfans aren’t happy about the May 2022 Community Day is that the shiny variant ofAlolan Geodudehas already been in the game for quite some time. Additionally, Alolan Geodude itself not exactly an exciting Pokemon to feature in a Community Day as it has been very easy to find inPokemon GOin the past. Even the chance to get an Alolan Golem that knows the new move Rollout doesn’t seem to be enough to excite fans for the May 2022 Community Day festivities.
The other thingPokemon GOfans have been complaining about in regard to the May 2022 Community Day is the time of day it’s taking place. Niantic had previously extended Community Day times as part of itsCOVID-19 changes, but it has once again shortened them to three hour affairs. It has also decided to change up the times, for whatever reason. The April 2022 Community Day took place from 2 to 5, whereas the May 2022 Community Day is taking place from 11 to 2.
It doesn’t help that April 2022 was an especially strong month forPokemon GOCommunity Days, making the May 2022 event look worse by comparison. April 2022 actually featured two separate Community Day events forPokemon GOplayers to partake in, with aCommunity Day Classic starring Mudkipearlier in the month and the Stufful Community Day event taking place just recently.
TheStufful Community Daymarked Stufful’s debut inPokemon GO, which made it a more enticing event for players. Some were hoping that Niantic would be capping off the Season of Alola with another Community Day debut, but that’s clearly not the case. It will be interesting to see if Niantic takes feedback from the May 2022 Community Day into account for its June 2022 plans.
Pokemon GOis out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
