Specifically, it’s what PewDiePie listens to on a regular basis viaSpotifythat has the Internet excited, following screenshots of his apparent playlist leaking online. Viewers quickly discovered that PewDiePie seems to be a fan of the hyperpop genre, and listens to artists like Kero Kero Bonito, SOPHIE, Ecco2k, and Gupi. While learning what one’s favorite YouTuber listens to was exciting to some, others were irritated by the discovery and took to Twitter to vent.

It seems that some of the fans of these musical artists are upset that PewDiePie listens to their favorites, with some even suggesting that Marzia, PewDiePie’s wife, may be the one actually listening to the tunes. While some were pleased that a few LGBTQ+ artists made the list, others felt that it was contrary to some of the comments PewDiePie has made in the past that struck many of those in the LGBTQ+ community as inflammatory.

In fact, one of the artists that PewDiePie apparently enjoys directly asked him to stop. Gupi casually sent out a tweet asking PewDiePie to stop listening to their music, which created a mixed reaction among readers. Some Twitter users have sent angry messages to Gupi complaining of gatekeeping, but others have supported the artist.
