Summary
In the past, there have been several instances where fans have speculated that one or more new weapon types would be introduced alongside new 5-star characters inGenshin Impact. For example, when Yae Miko was first introduced, there was speculation that this character’s signature wand would be a new weapon type. Then more recently, when Chevreuse and Nadia were introduced inGenshin Impact’s version 4.3 update, there was speculation that these characters would introduce firearms as primary weapons, neither of which turned out to be true.
Despite seemingly having multiple perfect opportunities to do so by now,Genshin Impactstill has yet to experiment with introducing new primary weapons. Considering how much of a game-changer new weapons could be if they were properly balanced, future updates forGenshin Impactarguably shouldn’t shy away from the challenge of expanding upon the game’s existing variety of weaponry with fun and meaningful additions.
The Case For Genshin Impact to Add New Weapon Types
New Weapon Types Could Take Genshin Impact’s Combat to the Next Level
Naturally, the biggest advantage of introducing new weapons to the game is that they could have a lasting impression onGenshin Impact’s combat. When it comes to what new weapon types could bring to the table inGenshin Impact, this mostly boils down to two different aspects, which are normal/charged attack combos and synergies with Elemental damage types.
Given that bows and catalysts innately deal one ofthe seven Elements inGenshin Impactbased on the Elemental damage type of the character wielding the weapon, it might be worth experimenting with new weapon types that have different Elemental synergies. For example,Genshin Impactcould introduce new weapons that have fixed Elemental damage types regardless of the Elemental damage type of the character wielding the weapon. While this would presumably have balancing implications, allowing players to pair two different Elemental damage types together could be an insanely powerful tool to have access to for the sake of buildcrafting and producing Elemental reactions.
In regards to normal and charged attack combos, these are a character’s most reliable attacks in between the cooldowns of their Elemental Skills and Burst. Consequently, introducing new attack combos via new weapon types could truly shake up combat when it comes to the latestnew characters inGenshin Impact, setting them apart from the characters that came before them.
New Weapon Types Could be a Natural Progression for Genshin Impact
Beyond how new weapon types could immediately affect the game’s combat, introducing new weapons could also be justified as a natural progression for Teyvat’s lore inGenshin Impact. Given how most of the characters in the game explicitly display the influences from their region of origin, this creates the opportunity forGenshin Impactto introduce a new weapon type unique to the characters from each region in the game. Although, with how many regions and charactersGenshin Impactalready has, reworking existing characters isn’t a likely possibility, but this could still happen for future regions coming to the game, such asGenshin Impact’s upcoming Natlan region, and beyond.
While it would presumably be a difficult challenge to add new weapon types to the game that are properly balanced, it could prove to be worth experimenting with. So ultimately,Genshin Impactshould consider adding this highly-requested feature to the game at some point in future updates for the game.
