Summary

Since DC Studios co-chair and co-CEO James Gunn announced that theJustice League: Crisis On Infinite Earthstrilogy will not be tied with the DCU, it is hard to guess what happens next, simply judging by how Part One ended. The movie looked like an aftermath of the events inJustice League Dark: Apokolips WarandConstantine: The House Of Mystery.Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths, Part Onereveals that both Flash and Constantine broke the laws of the universe. However, from the movie, it’s hard to decipher what law was broken and how it affects the rest of the storyline.

While theanimated movie does not follow the comicspanel for panel, it still features the Monitor gathering the strongest and most intelligent species across the multiverse to face an unprecedented crisis known as the Anti Matter wave. The firstpart of the Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earthstrilogy has left multiple unanswered questions and most especially has fans wondering what will happen in Part Two.

What Role Does Constantine Have to Play?

Part One of the trilogy sawConstantine, often shown asa homeless beggar, roaming across the multiverse, ‘warning’ Flash about the impending destruction that awaits the multiverse. Although the speculation of whether this movie is actually connected to the DCAMU still exists, it can be implied that Constantine was judged by Spectre after he nudged Barry to change the course of time inJustice League Dark - Apokolips War. Constantine had a 30-minute mini-movie titledConstantine: The House of Mysterywhere he was doomed to spend the rest of his years being hunted by demons.

In the comics, Constantine took up the role of Pariah, the being who accidentally opened the door to the antimatter world in the comics. In the event that he is indeed performing that role, it means he will walk Pariah’s path of assisting the heroes and getting rewarded by Harbinger.

What Are the Dusted?

Part One shows the alliance brought together by Monitor building three towers that are powered by Flash’s speed force on different earths to protect them from the anti-matter wave. However, after the team celebrates a successful mission, an anomaly occurs where Dawnster,Brainiac, and a coupleof other people disintegrate into dust. This ending hints at Part Two of the trilogy showing where the dusted are and a quest to reverse the situation.

Although Part One’s storyline slightly deviated from the comics, it remains to see if Part Two of the trilogy will see the story fall back in line. It will mean Flash will get drained of his speed force energy by the Anti Monitor, a villain yet to be revealed in the trilogy. The comic reveals that the Anti Monitor abducted the dusted so they would not be able to impede his plans in the future.

flash and spectre

Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part Two, may see villains likeLex Luthor and Brainiactake active roles in helping the alliance fight against the Anti Monitor and devise ways to locate the missing heroes.

What Is the Flash’s Mystery Past?

A notable variation between the comics and the movie was the role of Flash. The comics saw Barry experiencing the end of different worlds, while the movie tried to show what his speed force can actually do and how he can use that to his advantage. In the movie, Flash vibrates so fast that hecreates a pocket dimension. This space is suspended from time, and there, Barry and Iris live together till old age while creating one of the towers with the help of Amazo.

The end of Part One shows Spectre sending the old and worn-out Barry on a journey through time and telling him to go back to the time “before the beginning of time.” Part Two is expected to show the Anti Monitor stopping Barry from completing his mission and stealing his speed force, making him able to bend time and space. This gives the main villain the means to complete his mission - the destruction and remodeling of reality in his image. While this power-up meansrescuing Bally may be far-fetched, Part One hints at a plot twist when Wally West, Iris’ nephew, is shown at the wedding scene. This can imply most of the speed force energy might flow naturally into Wally, giving him the power to surpass Barry.

What Role Does Spectre Have to Play?

Spectre introduced himself to Barry as God’s Wrath, but he was first shown when exchanging words with the Monitor on how the latter taking his advice made the universe safe. Heconsiders himself a judgewho does not want to meddle in the world’s affairs needlessly. He shows empathy to the worn-out Barry Allen and gives him an oppurtunity to make amends with a mission to the beginning of time.

Spectre’s abilities have not been revealed, but considering that he has the power to punish both Constantine and Barry, he definitely is a force to reckon with. Spectre can be expected to take an active role in the fightagainst the Anti MonitorinCrisis on Infinite Earth Part Twosince defeat will mean the annihilation of all existence.
