A total of 15 challenges dotted across the galaxy,Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s Force Tearswere optional challenge rooms that tested various skills that the player had picked up over the course of the game. While some of these Force Tears were strictly platforming challenges that put the player’s timing to the test, the vast majority were combat-oriented, with players having to use all their unlocked abilities to take down a horde of challenging foes.

They may not have been the most complex optional challenges in gaming, butStar Wars Jedi: Survivor’s Force Tears were short and sweet bursts of intense difficulty, a challenge that isn’t often present inJedi: Survivor’s main story. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s Force Tears Could Be So Much More

On the whole,Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s Force Tears were exactly what the game needed them to be, but they could be so much more in a sequel. Rather than just teleport players to the same arena over and over again, the nextStar Wars Jedi’s Force Tears should takea page out ofElden Ring’s playbookand make each Force Tear its own mini dungeon. In these mini-dungeons, players should be presented with multiple Force Tear challenges in a row, such as a platforming challenge that runs into a tough combat encounter. Simply stringing together multiple Force Tears would go a long way in making each one feel a bit more substantial.

Elden Ringhas a total of 53 optional dungeons, and while some of them do end up bleeding together, they attempt to stay memorable by utilizing unique environmental, enemy, and boss designs. The nextStar Wars Jedi’s Force Tears can do exactly this, modeling each Tear location after a new planet and filling arenas and platforming areas with themed architecture and environmental scenery, as opposed to setting everything in the same void. Each Force Tear could also focus on a unique enemy type, and finish with a unique boss, helping each Tear to stand out from the rest.
