As fans gear up for the latestFast and Furiousfranchise entry, one fan’s excitement has taken an intriguing and analytical form. The focus of this analysis? Vin Diesel’s sleeveless shirts.

Although Diesel’s sleeveless shirt look is synonymous with theFast and Furiousfranchise, it’s followed him for much of his career. Following theFast Xtrailer’s reveal that Dom Toretto will be rocking at least three different sleeveless shirts,Reddit user u/LundgrensFrontKickcombed through Diesel’s acting credits and analyzed how Diesel’s lack of sleeves affected the movies' performances. u/LundgrensFrontKick took the time to call out a few interesting statistics: Diesel wears a white tank top in eleven of his movies, spent 503 minutes sleeveless onscreen, and averages 1.95 sleeveless shirts per movie.
u/LundgrensFrontKick also created a graph showing how many different sleeveless shirts Diesel has worn in every movie he’s appeared in. Diesel has appeared in seven movies in which he hasn’t worn a sleeveless shirt:Saving Private Ryan,Boiler Room,The Pacifier,Find Me Guilty,Babylon A.D.,The Last Witch Hunter, andBilly Lyn’s Long Halftime Walk. On the other side of the scale, he’s worn the most amount of unique sleeveless shirts - five - in four movies -Strays,xXx: Return of Xander Cage,Bloodshot, andF9: The Fast Saga. Three out of the four of those are Diesel’s most recent movies, meaning he’s been consistently sleeveless in his newest movies.
While u/LundgrensFrontKick noted that their analysis revealed that the two Diesel movies containing four sleeveless shirts had the best Tomatometer average, audience score average, IMDB average, and worldwide box office average, it’s hard to sayhow Diesel’s sleeveless-ness will affectFast X’s performance. Realistically, the actor’s lack of sleeves probably doesn’t have much to do with the quality of the movie he appears in; however, it’s such an integral part of Dom Toretto’s aesthetic that fans could realistically be in an uproar if aFast and Furiousmovie featured a consistently-sleeved Diesel.
It’s clearFast Xhas no intention of changing Dom’s signature look, so the real question is: willFast Xbreak the record for the most amount of different tank tops worn by Vin Diesel? Since he’d only need to wear six different tank tops, Diesel may set a new record inFast X.
