Recent years haven’t been as kind, but there once was a time when theNeed for Speedfranchise was at the top of the racing game world. One of the most well-regarded games in the series is 2005’sNeed for Speed: Most Wanted, which earned mostly positive reviews at the time of its release and is generally pointed to as one of the best entries in the series. The 2012 version ofNeed for Speed: Most Wantedmay have filled the void for some fans, but it’s been a decade since its release, and so it’s safe to say many are hungry for a fresh entry in the series. AnewNeed for Speedgame is in development by Codemasters and Criterion, though details on what exactly it will entail are unavailable at the time of this writing. It’s possible it will be a new take on theMost Wantedformula, but fans won’t now for sure until the official reveal happens.

While fans wait to learn more about the newNeed for Speedgame in an official capacity, they can see what aNeed for Speed: Most Wantedremake could look like if it were built using Unreal Engine 5. This is thanks to YouTube channel TeaserPlay, which createsUnreal Engine 5 concept videosto showcase hypothetical video game remakes and sequels. Its latest video is all aboutNeed for Speed: Most Wanted, taking inspiration from the 2005 version.
The video is brief at only one minute long, but it shows theNeed for Speed: Most Wantedstarting screen updated with Unreal Engine 5, complete with the classic logo in the corner. It then shows the player scrolling through the menus before being transported to the game world. It may not show a lot, but it could still get fans excited about the possibility of aNeed for Speed: Most Wantedremake or sequelfor modern consoles.
BesidesNeed for Speed: Most Wanted, there are other classicNeed for Speedtitles that fans would like to see make a comeback on new consoles. Two of the most popular games in the series areNeed for Speed: UndergroundandNeed for Speed: Underground 2, both of which would be met with much fanfare if they were to be ported, remade, or remastered. Perhaps the newNeed for Speedwill take inspiration from them, or maybe it will be a completely fresh start for the franchise.
