Fans ofFinal Fantasy 14have been eagerly progressing through new content following the launch of the early access, which allows fans of the game to get a taste ofDawntrailfour days before its official launch. The early access gives players full access to allDawntrailfeatures, including the new classes, Viper and Pictomancer. However, players ofFinal Fantasy 14trying to level up their new classesmay find their progress impeded should they be unfortunate enough to load into Syrcus Tower, the second of the Crystal Tower alliance raids fromA Realm Reborn. During the fight against the penultimate boss, Amon, there is an attack in which certain players are frozen into ice blocks, and must be used as shields by the remaining players to not be killed by a blast originating from the boss called “Curtain Call.” The issue is, for some reason, this mechanic currently doesn’t execute correctly, and the ice blocks are never made, which makes the fight nearly impossible to beat.

New Bug Makes Amon in Syrcus Tower Nearly Impossible to Kill

Fans over on theFinal Fantasy 14subreddit have already taken to calling the fight “Amon: Savage,” and have been devising ways in which the incredibly tight DPS check could be bested. The only winning strategy that players have been able to get to work so far is having one healer dead in each alliance, then raising them as Curtain Call is nearly finished casting and using the raise invulnerability to survive the blast, before quickly raising every other member of the raid to continue the fight. The bug is arguably in character for Amon, and the community appears to be taking it well, but the main issue with this bug is that, unlike every other raid in the game, theCrystal Tower raid series is a mandatory part of playing throughFinal Fantasy 14— you can not completeA Realm Rebornwithout having done them.

The bug currently doesn’t overly impact the players of early access besides being a nuisance, as the majority of these early access players are supposed to be past the point where Crystal Tower is stopping them from progressing the game. Despite this, there are naturally going to be some players who are stuck behind a wall because Amon is currently nearly unbeatable if any players were yet to finish the Crystal Tower raid series. This will also become a huge problem onceFinal Fantasy 14opens back up to the public again, so players can expect a fix for this unusual bug to be swift, if not during the early access itself.
