It happened thanks to this musical drama in which Teller stars as the talented jazz drummer, Andrew, who starts training with the strict and unforgiving teacher Terence Fletcher (J. K. Simmons). Teller’s Andrew isn’t always sympathetic in his obsession to improve at music but still comes across as more civil than Fletcher,who’s evil a lot of times, even though he doesn’t seem to think so.
Both actors gave excellent performances and the scenes between them are highlights of the movie. Teller had a hard time preparing for the movie as he actually got hurt and bled while practicing drumming. However, the effort paid off, and Teller gave one of his best performances so far in the movie. An interesting fact is that he might not have even gotten the role if Dane DeHaan didn’t reject it first! It all turned out well in the end though, withWhiplashgoing on to win three Academy Awards.
4War Dogs (2016)
Regardless of whether he plays in a drama or a comedy, Miles Teller can be relied upon to deliver a solid performance. He proves so yet again in this crime comedy about two friends who decide to make a lot of money by selling guns to the American government during a war. Their plan works, and they become successful, but the pair soon find themselves in trouble after agreeing to sell guns to someone who might not have the best intentions.

War Dogsis a fast-paced funny movie that, nevertheless, manages to reflect several serious topics in an approachable way, including greed and corruption. What makes the movie even more extraordinary is that it’s based on real events!
