Titanfall 2is going free-to-play this weekend for a limited time. Respawn Entertainment’s beloved mech first-person shooter is available to download right now on Steam for free and will be playable as such for the next few days.
Titanfall 2is considered by many as one of themore underrated video games of its era. The game is completely free to play from now until this upcoming Monday.

Respawn Entertainment has shared the details on its official Twitter page.Titanfall 2can be downloaded on Steam right now for free and will be available until May 3 at 10 am PT. Based on the tweet, it does not appear that the shooter is free-to-play this weekend on consoles.
Titanfall 2has seen a spike in player count thanks toApex Legendsannouncing aTitanfall-heavy new season, specifically with the reveal of its new Legend, Valkyrie. Valkyrie’s father, Viper, is a known character in theTitanfallworld, and the reveal trailer of Valkyrie showcased how her relationship with her father has driven her to the Apex games. Fans are very happy to see Respawn lean more heavily into theTitanfalllore inApex Legends.
The decision to makeTitanfall 2free-to-play this weekend likely coincides with thecommunity planning to return toTitanfall 2on May 1. Players have worked together to show up in droves on that day, and it is a nice show of appreciation from Respawn to act on that by allowing as many players to join up as possible.
The community event was likely a push to remind Respawn how much fans love the game–and that they want more from the series–butRespawn has made it clear that it is not working onTitanfall 3. It appears to be content with lettingTitanfall 2sit.Apex Legendsis one of the biggest multiplayer games out there, and the developer had a very successful licensed game withStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
IfTitanfall 3is not on the way, one could argue thatTitanfall 2should simply go free-to-play from here on out. The game may benefit in terms of player count if fans were able to enjoy it without the barrier of pay, and Respawn would be able to take advantage of the game’s microtransactions. In the meantime, this weekend is a great opportunity for PC players to beat the well-received and short campaign and or battle it out with friends in the frantic multiplayer.
Titanfall 2is available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
