As players explore and capture the range of different Pals available acrossPalworld, they will notice that each Pal species comes with a specific passive or active skill. These are known asPartner Skills.Partner skills are exclusive to that particular species and often relate to a specific area such as farming, mounting, or combat.
These skills can be upgraded as players progress through the game using thePal Condensationmechanic. Here, players can upgrade a Pal and its partner skill bysacrificing other Palsof the same species. Although it is subjective (some players may like and use some of the skills on this list), some partner skills are not as useful as others.
6Sixth Sense
Never Know When It Will Be Useful
Sixth Senseis a partner skill that is potentially very useful at the right moment but it is difficult to predict when that moment may be. Sixth Sense lets playersdetect where dungeonsmay be by activating this skill. Once activated, the rough direction and distance of a player to the dungeon will show up on the compass.
Although it may be helpful in finding a dungeon that has already been explored somewhat before (because the location of the dungeon is roughly known), players will never know when to use this ability and it offers no passive effects. This isn’t a bad partner skill but it isn’t as good as it seems.
5Fluffy Shield
Multi-Purpose
As alluded to in the introduction, most partner skills are useful in some regard but the question is how useful. Well,Fluffy Shieldhas the benefit of being dual-purpose. It can be used to protect theplayer in combator, if unwanted in combat, can create extra resources.
The issue is that the shield will not be useful beyond a certain section of the game; fairly early on, players won’t want to carryLamballaround in their party. As for the resources, limited droppings ofWoolcan only go so far as its use is limited and it is already widely available.
4Pecapaca Wool
A Mount and Farming Partner Skill
This skill has two core functions that are not up to scratch. Firstly, players can get wool from other places such as the Fluffy Shield partner skill that is available far earlier in the game. On the riding function, it is much slower than comparative mounts and offers no other bonuses when riding.
A similar Pal in core stats isEikthyrdeer, Melpaca’s running speedwhen mounted is50% slower than this other creature. Therefore, it shouldn’t really be used for either riding or farming as better options are apparent.
3Helper Bunny
More Annoying Than Helpful
Although it may sound like a useful skill to have,Flopieends up being quite annoying to have on the team. This is emphasized when a player is the sort to like to pick up items and track what they have themselves.
It can be useful in certain situations, such as when players go out for collection but even then, there are better partner skills available to help the process.
2Hard Head
Only Marginal Gains
The ability to be mounted and increase the movement speed is not an exclusive ability. Plenty of quicker Pals possess this ability that should be looked at first. The increased efficiency in mining boulders is only available when mounted.
Therefore, most of the time,Hard Headwill not be overly useful to the player and the opportunities to use this skill are extremely limited. Due to this, it is a partner skill and a Pal that should generally be avoided in favor of aneasier-to-manage Palsuch asCattivaand its more useful partner skill.
1Berry Picker
Won’t Notice A Difference
Caprity’s partner skill allows it to periodically drop berries when assigned to a ranch. A ranch is a base building that allows up to 4 Pals at any given moment to graze and drop items. This means that capacity is limited and shouldn’t be used for any old Pal. Red berries are accessible in many different places: in the open world, from theWandering merchantor aBerry Plantation.
Because of the variety of waysthat red berriescan be acquired, this partner skill isn’t particularly useful and a Caprity can actually take up space in a ranch rather than a more useful Pal. Instead of relying on this partner skill, players should gather up 3 Berry Seeds, 20 Wood, and 20 stone to make a plantation if they are keen to get their hands on more red berries.
