While there is plenty that Netflix’sThe Witcherseries does well, such as thestellar bard musicand epic action scenes, one thing it doesn’t convey so well is exactly when the three storylines that the show follows are taking place. Granted, this unclear timeline is likely by design, to reward perceptive viewers, especially on subsequent binge sessions trying to scrawl out a clear order of events.

One group of dedicated fans have gone ahead and done just that, documenting the likely dates of events through dialogue clues and the aging of characters throughoutThe Witcher’s eight episodes. The fans have then posted their findings to Twitter on the TheWitcher.TV account through a graphic depicting the order of each episode in the respective timelines for Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri.

According to TheWitcher.TV’s breakdown of the timeline, a few interesting facts come to light, such as Yennefer’s age, while still difficult to confirm, clocks in between 70 and 80 years old. Geralt himself is still a mystery, however, as his mutations make determining his age as difficult as Yennefer’s beauty enchantment makes finding hers. Although, it is clear that the furthest into the past the first season goes, is toYennefer accidentally teleporting to Aretuza, the magical school where she learns her magic.

It should be mentioned that at this is simply a single group of fans' interpretation of the events of the show, and the accuracy of the claims are yet to be confirmed. In that case, follow the proposed timeline with a grain of salt, however, there is plenty of evidence for a number of the claims gathering in the tweet’s replies. So, while this is not a definitive timeline, it does build a fairly decent starting point for viewers to try wrapping their heads around the lengthy story that the series is trying to convey.

This kind of dedication to unraveling the mysteries of a show are a sure sign that a show has quickly impressed audiences,as well asThe Witcher’s critics. Thankfully this means that Netflix will be bringingThe Witcherback for a season 2, although, unfortunately not until some time in 2021, following the popular TV law that everything good comes with a lengthy hiatus. Until then, viewers still have eight fantastic episodes to binge on repeat, anda cavalcade ofWitchermemesto keep us occupied as we wait for more monster slaying, war waging action.
