TheLEGOfranchise has given gamers family-friendly adaptations of some of the most prolific properties in pop culture for over a decade. FromStar WarstoHarry Potter, more than half a dozen different franchises have been transformed into the versatile toy bricks for the enjoyment of all ages. TheLEGOseries has remained a mainstay in the video game industry thanks to the intuitive puzzle-based gameplay and signature humor within each installment, and with the gargantuanLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagain development, there’s a lot of potential for where the series could go from there.
WheneverLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagareleases, it’s likely that developer Traveller’s Tales will want to pursue an original property for the nextLEGOtitle. There hasn’t been aLEGOgame that wasn’t some kind of sequel since 2018’sLEGO The Incredibles, so giving fans something new would keep the series from treading old ground. When considering some of the biggest pop culture franchises to adapt into aLEGOgame, there’s a treasure trove of options that would fit seamlessly with theLEGOformula. Perhaps one of the most perfect candidates however, would be wide world ofPower Rangers.

Power Rangers And The LEGO Philosophy
ThePower Rangersare one of the most recognizable properties to come out of the colorful and crazy world of the 90s. Based ontheSuper Sentaifranchise, thePower Rangersfranchise has seen a considerable amount of evolution since its debut, and has long been considered its own independent series. The series has served as the epitome of a flashy action show, and it’s largely responsible for bringing the tokusatsu tradition of entertainment to the attention of much of the younger generation of the 90s. ThePower Rangershave become ingratiated in pop culture ever since, and it puts them in a perfect position to be adapted by theLEGOseries.
The vast majority ofLEGOgames draw on the intense nostalgia associated with the franchise that’s being adapted. This is most prevalent with theLEGO Star Warsseries, which will have its fifth game whenThe Skywalker Sagareleases. Withhow prolific thePower Rangersfranchise has beenthrough the years, there’s generations of fans that still share a strong connection with the property. It would also likely blend very well with the way Traveller’s Tales makes its game. TheLEGOgames never take themselves too seriously, which could have the potential to pair well with the occasional silliness of thePower Rangers.
Story Potential In LEGO Power Rangers
When considering a narrative for a potentialLEGO Power Rangersgame, there’s a handful of different routes that Traveller’s Tales could take. Not only are there decades worth of material to choose from, but thePower Rangersfranchise is made up of so many different teams and overarching stories that it’d likely be enough for a whole trilogy of games. From the original “Mighty Morphin'” to the current “Dino Fury”, a whole series could be made out of the differentPower Rangerseras. Traveller’s Tales could also take all of this material and dosomething similar toLEGO Marvel Super Heroesand make an original story.
If aLEGO Power Rangersgame did go with an original story, there would be more than enough material and characters to fill it out with. One plot device that thePower RangersandLEGOgames have played with in the past is the concept of characters from alternated dimensions or different points in time meeting up for one big crossover. Considering the multitude of uniquePower Rangersteams over the years, creating a new story that blends every era of the franchise could make for a dream crossover experience. It could very well turn out likethe ambitiousPower Rangers: Battle for the Grid, just on a much larger scale.

The Power Rangers & LEGO Gameplay
Bringing thePower Rangersinto theLEGOfranchise could make for some excellent gameplay opportunities. Each of the Rangers is known for having their own specialties based on their personalities and unique abilities, and this could translate well to the way theLEGOgames design puzzles. For more tech-savvy characters, puzzles based on technology could be targeted for them, and for those that are particularly strong, they could be given puzzles that require a certain strength ability. The sheer amount of Rangers through the franchise, as well asthe Rangers' villains, could also make for a character list that rivals otherLEGOtitles.
Meticulous detailing aside, one of the biggest places for potential in aLEGO Power Rangersgame would come from the massive action set pieces that the franchise is known for. Part ofthe charm of thePower Rangersseriescomes from the bombastic action, specifically whenever they unite with the Megazord to take down a suddenly transformed foe. Adapting these moments from the series in aLEGOgame could make for some of the best action theLEGOfranchise has ever seen, and the combination of LEGO bricks with the already blocky form of the Megazord could turn out to be visually stunning.
At this point, it’s hard to say what Traveller’s Tales has planned onceLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagais finally out in the wild. Withhow tumultuous the development ofThe Skywalker Sagahas proved to be, it seems unlikely thatLEGOfans would hear anything of a new project any time soon. That being said, it’s not totally uncommon for developers to work on two projects at a time, even if one of them is in the conceptual phase of development.Power Rangersfans will just have to wait until Traveller’s Tales is ready for a new project to see if they’ll be able to battle for the plastic Grid.
