After the jaw-dropping season 2 finale ofThe Mandalorian, fans were left wondering what would happen next for Din Djarin (the titular Mandalorian himself). But perhaps even more so, speculation began to stir about the future of fellow armored warrior Bo Katan, played byBattlestar Galacticastar and sci-fi legend Katee Sackhoff. Well, it turns out that just like things were handledwith the surprise Jedi cameo, even Sackhoff herself might not have all the facts concerning her character’s future just yet, though she has plenty of ideas herself.

In a recent interview covering a variety of topics, Sackhoff eventually discussed her time onThe Mandalorianas Bo Katan, as well as what’s in store for her as the series goes on. Fans will likely remember how the recent finale set up the idea that she might become an unintended adversary to Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin. This was due to the latter unintentionally taking ownership of the legendary Mandalorian artifact known as the Darksaber. So even after she and her allies aided Djarin in keeping the child known as Grogu safe, it seemsloyalty to her Mandalorian traditionsmay win out over loyalty to her new friends.

When discussingThe Mandalorian, Sackhoff had plenty of ideas for where she would like to see her character go in the future. During this line of questioning, she reiterated a sentiment she’s given before, musing about how Bo Katan’s dedication to her people might end up not putting her on the “right side” of the story due to her single-minded focus, but that doesn’t necessarily meanBo Katan’s a villain or will become one. But as for anything concrete, she, unfortunately, didn’t have much to say. “I honestly wish that I could tell you that I knew something,” she said to Looper. “I really don’t know. I know where we ended and that’s all that I have. I can only use my imagination and hope that we see some pretty cool stuff, but I have no idea.”

This tracks with Disney’s record of keeping its secrets rather well (at least normally better than they did withthe leaks from Marvel’sWhat If…?). Bo Katan has been a long-established character in theStar Warsuniverse, appearing in bothThe Clone WarsandStar Wars Rebelsanimated shows before making her live-action debut inThe Mandalorian, so it makes sense they would want to keep such an important character’s future close to the chest.

But considering that Sackoff herself has played the character since the beginning, from voice-over work to on-screen action, it’s still a bit strange that she hasn’t been told about the warrior’s future. Unless something truly unexpected happens,The Mandalorianseason 3 appears to be gearing up for a confrontation involving the Darksaber, putting Djarin and Bo Katan right in the center. If even Sackhoff doesn’t know the details, what does that mean for the story?

It’s entirely possible this is just standard procedure and that Sackhoff will be informed about her character’s future well before shooting begins for season 3. On the other hand, it’s also possible that she actually does know and is simply a master of deception, which would frankly be way cooler. Either way, there’s a long time to go beforeThe Mandaloriancomes back, so maybe it’s more productive to spend time speculating aboutnew shows likeStar Wars:The Bad Batch.
