Leaks, rumors, and speculation are common for just about every video game property, but Nintendo has been the subject of a few high-profile examples in recent months. Fans are still waiting to hear whether Nintendo confirms long-rumoredSwitch remasters ofSuper Mariogamespurportedly in development for the plumber’s 35th anniversary this year, and yesterday an Amazon listing suggestedThe Legend of Zelda: Skyward Swordwill also be coming to Switch.
However, theAmazon UK listing forSkyward Swordon Switchhas since been removed, leading to an error page for anyone who tries to access it. While there was no guarantee the listing would lead to anything, especially given it offered few details beyond the game existing, the fact it was quickly removed after gathering steam could be taken as a sign that Nintendo let the cat out of the bag too soon.

Series ProducerEiji Aonuma has teased a Switch port ofSkyward Swordin the past, and it seems likely the game will happen eventually. Nintendo released twoLegend of Zeldaremasters on the Wii U:Wind Waker HDandTwilight Princess HD. With the series' 35th anniversary coming next year, there is ample opportunity for the developer to bring its popular titles to Switch, a system that has been much more successful than its predecessor.
To say the Switch has only been more successful than the Wii U is an understatement, as it was recently confirmed theNintendo Switch has outsold the original NES. A number ofZeldagames have been huge sellers on the console, includingBreath of the Wild,Link’s Awakening, andCadence of Hyrule, with Nintendo confirmingBreath of the Wild 2is in development during E3 2019.
ThoughSkyward Swordis a controversialZeldagame due to its linear story, over-reliance on motion controls, and hand-holding companion Fi,Skyward Swordhas a beautiful art style and offers a lot to the series' lore. Nintendo continues to release Wii U ports, such as the upcomingPikmin 3 Deluxe, so it would be interesting to see them work on some Wii games too.
That being said, leaks and rumors should be taken with a grain of salt, no matter how likely they seem. For example, code was recently found that suggestsCrash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Timewill also come to Switchafter it releases on other consoles, but it’s hard to say for certain until a developer confirms.
