The Batman Early Reactions Reportedly 'Controversial And Complex'

Probably the most anticipated film of the year, Matt Reeves' long-awaitedThe Batmanis less than a month away from its big theatrical release. Now, early leaked reactions reportedly claim that the film is complex and controversial.

The Batman,which will followRobert Pattinson as the Caped Crusaderduring his second year of crime-fighting, looks to kick off a new shared universe with a bang, as two direct sequels and two other spin-off series for HBO Max are in early development. Much like Chrisopher Nolan’sDark Knighttrilogy, Reeves looks to add a fresh perspective to the character, and judging by reported early reactions toThe Batman, he appears to be doing just that.

According to Editor-in-Chief of AwardsAce.com’s Erick Weber, who took to Twitter to share his thoughts after receiving a text from another source that likely attended another test screening,The Batmanis sure to be a challenging film, and one that could be polarizing for fans. The insider also compared the DC film to other psychological thriller classics such asChinatown,Zodiac,The Usual Suspects, andThe Silence of the Lambs. Weber also tweeted out that people will be discussing the film long after its release. Whether that is a good or bad thing, it seems that Reeves has created a film (which has a now confirmed runtime of 175 minutes, making it the second-longest film featuring Batman) that many fans have been hoping for: a darker,neo-noir detectiveBatmanfilmthat takes its time to really hone in on the character’s internal struggles while still exploring much of his tragic past.

While the film may be a bit divisive amongst audiences, in addition to Weber’s posts, author and screenwriter Paul Davidson also commented on the tweet, adding thatThe Batmanis being hailed as the bestBatmanfilm sinceNolan’sThe Dark Knight. That is some worthy praise, considering that the 2008 Oscar-winning film is not just regarded as one the best comic films, but one of the best films of all time. If these leaked reactions appear to be true, then fans are in for one thrilling and memorable ride.
