The term “Renaissance Man,” harkening to an era in which a study of the arts and sciences was encouraged and celebrated, is termed as “a person with many talents or areas of knowledge.” Such a title istruly befitting Terry Crews, who, as of today, has now demanded the localization ofMother 3, the followup to the 1995 JRPG known in the west asEarthbound.

Taking to Twitter, Crews put out a simple tweet that many gamers have echoed sinceMother 3’s release on the Game Boy Advance in 2006. While fans have taken the time totranslate and mod ROMs of the game, the authentic game still resides only in Japan.

While there tends to be a chorus of JRPG fans screaming for the localization of the game, Crews stands as one of the bigger celebrity names to request such a motion. However, there remains hope for an English release of the game as the originalMotherfrom 1989 was released on the Wii U worldwide in 2015 under the titleEarthbound Beginnings. Fans such as Crews are most likely hoping for a shorter wait than 26 years.

Mother 3has yet to make it to foreign shores. Both the originalMotherandMother 2/Earthboundhave both made their way out of Japan.Earthboundcontinues to be heralded as one of the top JRPGs to be released.Mother 3is supposed to take place a period of time afterEarthbound, centering around the character Lucas trying to prevent invaders from destroying the world.

Crews' love for gaming is well documented, as he’s been shown building his own gaming PC andplaying games likeDanganronpawith his son. Additionally, Crews was part of thevoice talent for the gameCrackdown 3, which utilized his likeness. Outside of gaming, Crews has starred in a number of movies, television shows, and commercials, and he was also a professional American football player. In his free time, he enjoys painting and playing the flute on top of gaming. He has also been a vocal part of the MeToo movement and has detailed his own sexual assault at the hands of a film executive.

Whether Terry Crews throwing his support behind theMother 3localization movement will have an effect stands to be determined. Fans have been asking Nintendo for years and have been returned with silence. While the fan translation exists, most players would prefer an actual release of the game overseas. Until then, Crews and everyone else will have to wait.
