This article contains MAJOR SPOILERS forSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
Some new leaks forSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leaguehint that at least 2 of Earth’s former guardians might not be as dead as players have been led to believe. As its title implies,Suicide Squadpits players against Rocksteady’s version of the Justice League, who have been mind-controlled by Brainiac to serve as field commanders for the cyborg alien’s invading army. InSuicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, players take control of Task Force X, a rag-tag team of villains tasked with eliminating the fallen heroes under the command of Amanda Waller - a mission that takes them to the war-torn streets of Metropolis.
Sure enough,Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leaguelives up to its subtitle, as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and the Flash all meet a violent end by the time the end credits roll. Deaths in comic books tend to be temporary, but Rocksteady seemed to imply that it would commit to the title of the game when asked about the possibility ofBatman returning in a future Arkhamverse sequeljust beforeSuicide Squadlaunched earlier this month.
However, there have been rumors and leaked audio suggesting that the Justice League might not be dead after all. Reddit user SkyPopZ recently shared some of this audio on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours, which contains a voiceover narration from Lois Lane seemingly confirming that Green Lantern is alive and working with ARGUS followingSuicide Squad’s story ending. She also mentions the Flash a couple of times, hinting that the Fastest Man Alive is also back and ready to help Task Force X retake Metropolis from Brainiac’s forces.
This wasn’t the only leak suggesting thatthe Flash survived the events ofSuicide Squad. Earlier this month, Reddit user yaboiajj22 posted a similar clip of leaked audio on r/SuicideSquadGaming featuring Barry asking aloud how he and his team are back following their brainwashing and apparent deaths. He also makes an offhand mention of Batman, who apparently told him that Amanda Waller now hates them due to their actions under Brainiac’s control. Flash’s mention of Bruce has some fans thinking that the Dark Knight is alive as well, but it’s worth pointing out that he speaks of him in the past tense.
These leaks have led to many theories about how theJustice League could still be alive afterSuicide Squad, with one of the most popular ones being that the brainwashed heroes that players fight and kill in the game were actually clones created by Brainiac. There is no way of knowing if these audio clips are authentic yet, but if they are, then fans who were put off by how Earth’s greatest protectors died inSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leaguemight have something to look forward to in its upcoming post-launch DLC.
