The 74thEmmynominations were announced today and fan-favorite shows likeStranger Thingsand Marvel Studios' Disney Plus series scored multiple nods. Meanwhile,Squid Gamecontinued it’s record-breaking streak by making history with a major nomination.

Netflix’sSquid Gamedebuted to record-breaking viewershipnumbers last year, becoming the streamer’s first series to cross 1 billion hours viewed. Now,Squid Gamehas earned anEmmynomination for Outstanding Drama Series, making history by becoming the first non-English-language show to land a nomination in said category. The series earned a total of 14 nominations, including one for actor Lee Jung-jae.

Squid Gamewill face competition for Outstanding Drama Series from AMC’sBetter Call Saul, HBO’sEuphoriaandSuccession, Netflix’sOzark, Apple TV Plus’Severance, and Showtime’sYellowjackets. Also competing for Outstanding Drama Series isStranger Thingsseason 4, which earned a total of 13 nominations. Unfortunately,Stranger Thingsseason 4 did not receive any acting nominations despite there beingearly buzz for Sadie Sinkin particular. Star Wars was also present at the Emmys, with Star Wars: Vision earning an Outstanding Short Form Animated Program nomination whileThe Book of Boba Fettscored 4 technical nods.

Marvel Studios also scored multiple Emmy nominations this year thanks toMoon Knight(8 nominations),Loki(6 nominations),Hawkeye(2 nominations), and the animatedWhat If…?series (3 nominations). While most of these nominations were in technical categories,the late Chadwick Bosemanearned a posthumous nomination for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance for his work as Star Lord/T’Challa inWhat If…?, which itself was nominated for Outstanding Animated Program. Jeffrey Wright also received a nomination for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance for his performance as The Watcher inWhat If…?while F. Murray Abraham scored a nomination in the same category for his work as Khonshu inMoon Knight.

ABC’sAbbott Elementary, HBO’sBarryandCurb Your Enthusiasm, HBO Max’sHacks, Amazon Prime Video’sThe Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Hulu’sOnly Murders in the Building, Apple TV Plus’Ted Lasso, and FX’sWhat We Do in the Shadowswill vie for Outstanding Comedy Series. Meanwhile, Hulu’sThe Dropout,Pam & Tommy, andDopesickwill face Netflix’sInventing Annaand HBO’sThe White Lotusfor the Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series Emmy. Also noteworthy isRhea Seehorn’s performance as Kim WexlerinBetter Call Saulfinally earning her an Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series nomination.

It’s safe to say there was no shortage of quality television shows to pick this year, and most seem to have earned recognition at the Emmys. Of course there will be snubs, but fans can find out if their favorite show or performers win big when the 74th Emmy Awards air on June 04, 2025, on NBC.
