starfield choose between crimson fleet and uc sysdef

It’s not easy to decide if players should choose UC SysDef or the Crimson Fleet, but this guide will serve to explain what happens in both instances and the outcomes of the Legacy’s End quest, so players can determine for themselves if they want to join the UC SysDef and have their rewards, or enjoy the spoils of the Crimson Fleet.

How To Start Legacy’s End

Players must have completed the Eye of the Storm mission and escaped the Legacy with Kryx’s Legacy on their person. From the player’s ship, a choice must be made whether to travel to the Key or travel to the UC Vigilante. If players head to the Key, then they will start Legacy’s End on the side of the Crimson Fleet. If they head to the UC Vigilante, they will start the mission as part of the UC SysDef. Either outcome will eradicate the other, and all possibilities of remaining in their faction.

It’s worth noting that before players make the Grav Drive jump necessary to reach these neighboring systems, players should stock up on ammo, healing items, Ship Parts, and the bestweapons for their shipsinStarfield, as difficult dogfights in space will consume the player’s time in this mission.

Option 1: Bring Kryx’s Legacy To UC Vigilance

Setting the destination to the UC Vigilante, players will arrive at the scene, where Crimson Fleet vessels are firing upon the flagship of the UC. Players will need to help take these ships out before they can begin theprocess to dock and boardthe UC Vigilante, Upon arriving at the UC Vigilante, players will find the ship under fire from attacking crimson fleet vessels. Players need to take the ships out before they can dock and board the Vigilante, where they will be tasked with reporting to Commander Ikande once more.

Speak To Commander Ikande

In the Operations Center on board the UC Vigilante, players can discuss their findings with Commander Ikande and Lieutenant Toft. Choosing to side with the UC Vigilante means players can resume their mission of handing in every piece of evidence for the Burden of Proof quest. Nevertheless, players should hear what the two have, as they will give players the call sign ‘Renegade’ and send them on a mission to destroy three Defensive Batteries and board the Key, beginning their final assault to cripple the Crimson Fleet.

Disable The Defensive Batteries

As players undock from the UC Vigilante, they will be tasked with flying through the same solar system to begin taking out the Crimson Fleet defensive. There are three Defensive Battery locations: Alpha, Beta, and Gamma. Each location has a large battery that needs to be destroyed with heavy weaponry, as well as plenty of violent Crimson Fleet ships that will begin firing upon the player. This is where the difficulty comes in, and players should hopefully have a good stack of Ship Parts and a well-defended ship to counter the assault.

Destroy The Crimson Fleet Defenders

Once all three Defensive Batteries are down, players will proceed to fight the Key. However, before they can get close to it, they need to destroy the armada outside. Players are faced with little to no backup, and an intense Crimson Fleet that will fire upon the player. Players need to utilize their ship flying abilities, defensive maneuvers, and weaponry to ensure their success against the Crimson Fleet Defenders.

It’s a good idea to stay away from the Key, as it has defensive capabilities. Players should try and fight the smaller vessels one by one until they are all gone. After a certain amount of time, the UC Vigilante will make the jump to the Key, providing players with some extra firepower. Then, it’s time to board the Key.

Reach Jasmine’s Computer

From inside the Key, players need to head over to Jazz’s Ship Services and access her computer. Now that the player has infiltrated the home of the Crimson Fleet, players will have to kill their way through to their objectives, taking out as many pirates as they can. If players have not completed all evidence in the Burden of Proof quest, then they might have to kill some friendly faces from the Crimson Fleet missions and side missions. Sympathies aside, kill them all and access Jasmine’s Computer to unlock the door to the Depot.

Fight To The Operations Center

As players head through the Depot, they will have to kill the shop vendors that they once called allies. If players have extra Crimson Fleet crew members like Mathis, they will always have to be killed. Fighting through here, players need to head to the Last Nova bar, where they will kill Bog and Samina, as well as other Crimson Fleet patrons. Inside is the Last Nova computer that players can use to unlock the security door to the right that blocks the path to the Reckoner’s Core.

Speak To Shinya Voss

Waiting for the player once they load into the Reckoner’s Core is Shinya Voss. The bomb attached to his chest has been activated, and he tells players that there is no way to stop it. Players are faced with a choice: Kill him here, leave him to die from the bomb, or use their new dialogue option [UC SysDef] to swear that they will disarm the bomb. This will start the optional objective to Deactivate Shinya Voss’ Bomb, which is a good choice, considering it’s on the way to the objective, and will make Shinya a prisoner aboard the UC Vigilante later on.

Regardless of the player’s choice here, they should head past Shinya and into the Bunks, where they will continue to fight their way through the Crimson Fleet until they have finally reached the Operations Center, with the primary objective of confronting Delgado.

Confront Delgado

Locked inside the second-floor office in the Operations Center, players will find Delgado, to which they can speak to him through the bulletproof glass. Delgado has set the Key’s reactor to overload, ensuring that everyone will die in the explosion.Players have a choice to make:

Deactivate Shinya Voss’ Bomb (Optional)

Whether players killed Delgado or not, they can find Delgado’s Computer at the far right of the second-floor office where they originally spoke to Delgado. Access the computer and disarm Shinya’s bomb, allowing him to surrender to the UC SysDef without exploding.
