Star Warshas been winning over people’s hearts since 1977, which sometimes means that the costumes and designs associated with beloved characters like Darth Vader don’t seem very high-tech by modern standards. But what if the Empire somehow got its hands on some top-notch engineering talent, like the kind that designed Marvel Studios' Iron Man suit?

Well, there really aren’t many fictional engineers as bright as Tony Stark who, with the help of CGI, has been dishing out movieblockbuster gradeIron Mansuitsand other Avengers gear from Stark Industries facilities since 2008. AlthoughIron Man’s story is all about keeping these dangerous weapons from falling in the wrong hands, fans can still imagine what would happen if Stark were to put his mind to work in theStar Warsuniverse

The result is actually quite astonishing, as “Iron Vader” even looks like somethingIron Mancould produce for himself to commemorate his love for theStar Warsfranchise. After all, Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark was born in 1970, which would make him 7 years old by the time ofStar Wars: A New Hope’s original release, the perfect age for cultivating the kind of fandom that would have stuck with him for the rest of his life, while also explainingIron Man’sundying love for AC/DC music.

Alright, so this Iron Vader suit mostly borrows fromIron Man’sdesign, as the suit is practically Stark’s armor (arc reactor included) in all black, adding a cape and the classic Darth Vader helmet shape. It’s unclear what kind of improvements or mods Tony Stark could add to the Jedi’s trusty lightsabers, but maybe he could get rid of the noise they make, change the handle to a more ergonomic design, or even add a stealth blaster at the bottom of the hilt.

One thing Darth Vader would surely benefit from is having Iron Man’s mobility and the power to soar the skies, just like Tony Stark does. After all, if Anakin Skywalker led the Empire’s conquest of the galaxy in such clunky armor, the Rebels probably wouldn’t have stood a chance against a Darth Vader enhanced by Stark Industries. Unfortunately, theStar Warssequel trilogy didn’t resurrect Darth Vader, so there are very few seconds of new footage featuring one of the movie’s greatest villains.

At least for now, Disney Plus’Obi-Wan Kenobiseries looks like an incredibly promising opportunity forStar Warsfans to see a more agile Darth Vader battle it out against his former Jedi master. This is definitely the best part of having Hayden Christensen return to reprise his old role, even if Jar Jar Binks isn’t joininghim.

TheStar Warssaga is now available on Disney Plus.
