Star Wars: Andorstar Diego Luna says he might be willing to play the titular character again once the series is over, but only under certain conditions. With the new Disney Plus series already making waves, it’s clear that there’s really something to the story of Cassian Andor. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll stick around.
Luna’s character of Cassian Andorwas a clear standout inRogue One: A Star Wars Storyalongside Felicity Jones' Jyn Erso and a number of others. So a 2-season series dedicated to the character feels like the least he deserves. So when recently asked about his future with the role once the show is over, Luna himself seemed pretty satisfied with what’s been done and what’s being done with his story. But there might be room for more.

“Obviously, if the story matters,” Luna said whenInverseinquired whether he’d be willing to play Cassian again in the future. He then went on to describe how he appreciates the separate nature ofAndorandRogue One, which seems to be the product of theremarkable variety inStar Warsshowslately. “I’ve been part of two projects inStar Warswhere we had a clear objective,” he continued. “We wanted to do a different film, a standalone story that would bring tonally and visually a different approach to theStar Warsuniverse, and the same thing with the series… We are meant to be different. We can explore different tones, we can be a spy thriller, we can be political."
It’s a good viewpoint to have, especially in a time where many of the complaints regarding the franchise involve the idea that there are repeated themes and thatStar Warsshould tell more subversive stories. But Luna also didn’t discount the possibility of more, and he clearly seemed to have respect for the people involved withAndor. “If I ever get the chance to keep being part of this universe with an objective and an ambition like this, obviously I’ll always work with these people,” he added.
It’s true thatAndoris shaping up to be an interesting departure from the typicalStar Warsformula. Even showrunnerTony Gilroy wanted it to be a good entry point for new fans. But there’s no telling if it will help influence future shows and movies to continue setting themselves apart rather than rehashing old tropes and bringing in fan-favorite characters for nostalgia bait.
Either way, seeing Luna as Cassian again after this would always be welcome. Whether it’s in another full-fledged movie or simply a cameo in a tourist attraction like theStar WarsVR experience in Disney Springs (highly recommended, by the way), he’s certainly a character who’s made his mark on the galaxy.
