Sonic Superstarswill be featured on the opening night of Gamescom on Tuesday, August 22. This news was revealed by Gamescom host and Summer Game Fest architect Geoff Keighley, who shared a brief video clip promotingSonic Superstars' presence at the show on Twitter earlier this week. While vague on the details, Keighley promised a special “world premiere” with “superstar news” for the upcoming co-op side-scroller.

As noted above, a few details aboutSonic Superstarshave already been made public since the game’s unveiling a few months ago. In addition to Sonic himself, series mainstays Tails, Knuckles, and Amywill all be playable inSonic Superstars, and each will have their own special abilities to help them navigate the many colorful obstacle courses in their path. The nefarious Dr. Eggman will return as well, alongside the often-forgotten Fang the Hunter and a brand-new villain named Trip. The mystical Chaos Emeralds are back too, and they will grant Sonic and his friends special powers.

One thing fans still don’t know isSonic Superstars’release date, which could very well be revealed during the game’s showing at the upcoming Gamescom opening night event. There will be plenty of other games being shown on Tuesday, such asMortal Kombat 1, and now it’s been confirmed thatSonicfans will get to see more of the famous hedgehog’s next platforming adventure in just a few short days.
