Netch leather is an item that was introduced withThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim’s DLCDragonbornand is used to make unique armor sets. Luckily, there are many ways to obtain Netch leather inSkyrim.
Smithing is one of the most valuable skill trees inSkyrim. By leveling up the smithing skill and adding perks to the skill tree, players can unlock more powerful armor types. However, it can be a bit of a grind to level up the skill, either by paying a skilled smith to teach the Dragonborn the skill or by manually upgrading weapons and making several pieces of armor from scratch. And withthe DLCDragonborn,Skyrimbrought the island of Solstheim to the map, where players can find a ton of new items used in crafting recipes and armor creation.

Netch leather was introduced inDragonbornas well, so players will first need to have either purchased that DLC or be playing theLegendary Edition, which contains allSkyrimDLC.
The main location to find netch leather is on Solstheim, dropped by betty netches and bull netche, which are large, floating beasts that look similar to jellyfish. Don’t mistake betty and bull netches for their youngling counterpart, netch calves, which can be noted by their smaller size. Netch calves only drop netch jelly. Also on Solstheim, in Raven Rock, theBreton blacksmith Glover Mallorysometimes sells it, as does Fethis Alor, also in Raven Rock.
TheDragonbornDLC forSkyrimalso introduced Apocrypha, a plane of Oblivion belonging to theDaedric Prince Hermaeus Mora. The Dragonborn must travel here as a part of the main questline forDragonborn, and it’s only accessible by reading the Black Books while in Solstheim. However, when players are there, lurkers will sometimes drop netch leather.
Netch leather is primarily used to craft two types of armor inSkyrim: chitin armor and bonemold armor. While bonemold and chitin armor aren’t powerful in comparison to other types of armor that are obtained further down the line,such as Deathbrand’s Armor, also found throughout Solstheim, they are both formidable sets for earlier player builds.
Chitin armor requires asmithing level of 30 inSkyrimand the Elven Smithing perkin order to craft. Bonemold armor, on the other hand, only requires a smithing level of 15 and the Steel Smithing perk to craft it. If players are specifically seeking out the bonemold armor, it can be looted from Reavers in Solstheim and Redoran Guards.
