If one were to list all the things thatSkyrimdoes right, its kill camera would certainly earn a mention, as a showcase reel highlights just how satisfying these executions can be. Combat finishers are often the subject of animation andgameplay mods inSkyrim, and while they certainly expand upon the system even further, the base game comes with a fairly well-developed feature on its own. The kill camera’s finishing moves come in a wide variety of flavors, split into different categories based on the Dragonborn’s weapon of choice. From archery to dual wielding, and even one’s Werewolf form, the kill camera will feature heavily in just about anySkyrimplaythrough.
Whether they’re dungeon-delving through perilous Dwemer ruins or getting in theirdaily kill of Nazeem inSkyrim, combat finishers often give players an extra flair to even the most mundane acts of violence. The effects are visceral, the feel is satisfying, and though some wondered if combat finishers were just a fad prior to the game’s release, most players agree thatSkyrimwouldn’t be the same game without them.

That being said, the highlight reel does come with a few modded animations, but the vast majority of the ones showcased in the video can be found in the original game files. Given how popular V.A.T.S kills became inBethesda’sFalloutfranchise, it’s no wonder that the developers wanted to introduce anElder Scrollsequivalent in some way.
