Diehard fans are currently debating which quest is the absolute worst inSkyrim. It may have been out for over a decade, but the fifth main installment in theElder Scrollsseries is still drawing gamers back in and sparking discussions online.Skyrimremains a beloved title that is full of content to explore, and it seems there’s always something worth discussing, even if it’s about the lackluster elements of an otherwise great game.
There’s certainly no shortage of quests to consider in the game. There are even somesecret side quests inSkyrimthat everyone missedand can still be talked about. Still, when it comes to which quests are just plain bad and worthy of consideration for the title of “worst in the game,” there do seem to be some common contenders that come up again and again. It’s no surprise that some of these quests made it into the recent debate.

This discussion began on January 17 on Reddit with a fan, going by Low-Cat-1274, asking fellow players which quest they’ll never do again. This Redditor included a picture from the Taste of Death questline, emphasizing that they’ll never be doing that particular quest again. This prompted a long discussion about the merits of that quest along with other suggestions about which qualifies as the worst.
Other strong contenders, receiving votes from many fans, included the No Stone Unturned quest, the quest to destroy the Dark Brotherhood, and the entire Thieves' Guild questline. Players offered different reasons for choosing these various quests, from a weak plot to boring gameplay or the fact that they may force players to go against a preferred moral path or play style. While there is acleverSkyrimtrick to make the Thieves' Guild quest easier, the others can be a slog to get through and these other criticisms are certainly valid.
Of course, each of these quests had its defenders as well. Some offered ways to make the quests easier or brought up the rewards some of them offered and proposed that the benefits outweighed any potential annoyances. It’s difficult to argue that all these quests are worth it, however. In the past,Skyrimfans have voiced disappointment about the No Stone Unturned quest reward, and some of the other quests don’t offer much better.
Every fan is likely to have their own choice for which quest is the worst and every proposed quest will surely have its defenders. If nothing else, this debate proves thatSkyrimstill has a passionate fan base and, even when the game isn’t at its best, it’s still worth talking about. It’s not surprising thatSkyrimcould hit another big milestone beforeElder Scrolls 6launches and still attracts old and new fans all these years later.
