One of the most noteworthy omissions from the last week’s Nintendo Direct wasShin Megami Tensei 5, the long-anticipated JRPG releasing exclusively on Nintendo Switch in November. With the game coming in just over a month, many fans were left confused as to why the title was absent from Nintendo’s most recent showcase, especially since it’s coming from beloved developer Atlus. It appears now that the reasonShin Megami Tensei 5skipped the Nintendo Direct is because Atlus had plans to release a new trailer today that finally reveals the English voice cast.
Up until now, Atlus had not yet reveal the English dub cast forShin Megami Tensei 5, a move that has concerned many fans given that English dubs have become a staple of the publisher’s games in the west. Last year the publisher shared that it had faced difficulties producing English dubs for its games due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with13 Sentinels: Aegis Rimreceiving its English dub in the form of a day 1 patch.

This understandably leftShin Megami Tenseifans concerned that the upcoming fifth entry, which is positioned to beAtlus’s biggest release sincePersona 5, would go without an English dub, especially given that it is the publisher’s first ever global simulatnious release.
The newest trailer forShin Megami Tensei 5has revealed that the protagonist of the game will be voiced by Casey Mongillo (Neon Genesis Evangelion,Bugsnax). Their classmate, Tao Isonokami will be voiced by Jeannie Tirado (Dragon Ball FighterZ,Fire Emblem: Three Houses), while the siblings Yuzuru Atsuta and Miyazu Atsuta will be voiced by Mark Whitten (Judgment,Demon Slayer), and Ashlyn Madden.
Batmananimated film actor Stuart Allan will voice the protagonist’s friend Ichiro too. Finally,Persona 5 Royal’s Kasumi Yoshizawa voice actress Lauren Post will make an appearance, voicing Nuwa, one of the demon leaders in the game that the player must choose to ally with or defeat.
WithShin Megami Tensei 5looking to have the most ambitious story in the series' history yet, with most of the game’s story appearing to play out inreal-time animated cutscenes featuring full voice acting, there is a lot of pressure on Atlus to hire the right people for the job.Given the quality of Atlus' dubs in the past, it’s likely the cast will do an excellent job inShin Megami Tensei 5, however the game will also allow players to switch to the Japanese voice acting, which has become a tradition in Atlus games since the release ofPersona 5.
Shin Megami Tensei 5releases on November 12th 2021, exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
