One of the most high-profile latino superheroes in theDCEU,Blue Beetlehas seen a spate of casting over the last few weeks. That includes theaddition of the Blue Beetle’s love interestas well as a couple other characters. As the film heads down the tracks towards production and then eventual movie theaters, it seems as though the producers behind the film are wanting to get the last few open spots on the cast filled in short order.

To that end, The Wrap is reporting that Stone is officially joining the cast and will be playing a character who is being created specifically for the movie. Stone is said to be playing the wife of Ted Kord, who is the secondBlue Beetle in the comics. It appears that the character, Victoria Kord, will be squaring off against the movie’s protagonist Jaime Reyes, who is donning the superhero suit for the film.

Furthermore, Raoul Max Trujillo has been cast as Carapax the Indestructible Man. Of course, with Stone signing on to play some sort of villain, it might mean that the Blue Beetle movie is going to be changing up Ted Kord’s backstory. In the most recent DC Comics arc, Kord is an industrialist and the owner of KORD Industries, which is often implied to actually be a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises.

When Kord takes onthe mantle of the Blue Beetle, he eventually joins the Justice League. Of course, it’s also possible that while the movie isn’t going to make Ted Kord a villain, he could be an unwitting pawn of his villainous wife in this particular storyline. At this point, just how Stone’s character will tie into the movie isn’t known beyond her apparent evil role.

Xolo Maridueña will play the title role and his alter ego Jaime Reyes. The film isalso starring George Lopez, Bruna Marquezine, Adriana Barraza, Damián Alcázar, Belissa Escobedo, and several others who just joined the production relatively recently. TheBlue Beetlefilm was originally planned as a project that was going to skip theaters and launch directly on HBO Max. However, producers eventually changed paths and now the DECU project will debut on the big screen.

Blue Beetlewill leap into theaters on May 18, 2025.
