Many praisedSonic the Hedgehog 2for embracing both the modern and classic versionsof the character, proving that movie adaptations of a video game can stay somewhat truthful to the source material. As well as movies, theSonicfranchise also has some upcoming games for fans to enjoy, such asSonic OriginsandSonic Frontiers.TheremasteredSonic Originsis by far the less controversial of the upcomingSonictitles. A compilation of the originalSonic the Hedgehog,Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3, andKnuckles, anyone wanting to relive the classicSonicexperience can do so in a couple of weeks time whenSonic Originsreleases.Sonic Frontiersis a more ambitious project, giving the blue hedgehog a modern experience with enhanced graphics and an open world to run around in. Both games initially saw a lot of hype fromSonicfans, being revealed at the Sonic Central event back in 2021 alongside a remaster ofSonic Colors.RELATED:New Sonic Frontiers Trailer Focuses on Combat MechanicsWhileSonic Frontiershas since seen a lot of backlash, including some fans even wishing for the game to be delayed, Sonic Central this year is likely looking to create some hype for the franchise even with negativity currently circling it. It isn’t stated how long this new Sonic Central event will be, but it is unlikely to run anywhere nearly as long as the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase or any similar event. Last year’s SonicCentral was under 15 minutes, and fans aren’t currently expecting this year’s event to go on for too much longer than that. Fans will be able to find out the length at 9 AM on June 7, which is when SonicCentral will take place this year.
So far, nothing has exactly been confirmed to be making an appearance at 2022’s SonicCentral. However, based on what fans know already, they can expect to seeSonic Frontiersin some form. There may even be a specific launch date for the game announced at the event, given that it currently has only a Holiday 2022 release window. If the company has listened to negative fan feedback, on the other hand, there could be official word onSonic Frontiers’delay instead. Nothing will likely be confirmed before the presentation, but fans won’t have to wait long for this year’sSonicCentral.
Sega has confirmed that the SonicCentral event will be streamed live on both Twitch and YouTube. Alongside news onSonic Frontiers, fans are also expecting another remaster of a classicSonicgame, with many pointing toSonic Generationsas the next title to deserve a remaster.
SonicCentral will take place on June 7 at 9 AM PT.
