Fire Emblemfans have been anxiously awaiting news of the next release in the popular strategy game franchise. Instead of a new main series release, but Nintendo announced theFire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopesin early 2022. This led some to believe that a main seriesFire Emblemrelease was still some way off. That may not be true, however, if a new leak is to be believed. Several screenshots for an unreleasedFire Emblemgame have leaked online.

Four differentFire Emblemscreenshots are being shared across social media. The four screenshots include a character with red and blue hair standing in front of an NPC, a white-haired knight speaking to a robed figure with dark hair, a menu featuring the same two figures with a list ofFire Emblem-style pixelized sprite alliesbetween them, and then another list showing the profile pictures of over a dozen in-game characters.

While the images clearly convey the systems ofFire Emblemgame, there’s no explicit confirmation that these images are from the franchise let alone a new and unreleasedFire Emblem. However, other details surrounding the leaks add context to the situation. Reporter Emily Rogers says that Nintendo has already completed the newFire Emblemgame, made in partnership betweenIntelligent Systems, Koei Tecmo, and Gust. The protagonist has red and blue hair and is the child of a dragon. “Emblems” mechanic allows summons from pastFire Emblemgames. Note that these comments came ahead of the release of the leaked screenshots.

Fire Emblemfans would obviously question why Nintendo hasn’t announced or released any information about this new game if it’s true that it’s already complete. The answer likely revolves aroundFire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. The musou launches June 24, and Nintendo is likely focused on giving the game the best chance it has to succeed. Announcing a newFire Emblemgame while the musou is a direct sequel of the lastFire Emblemgame would likely only confuse people and hurt the musou’s sales.

Adding to that, there have been questions as to why Nintendo hasn’t held aJune Nintendo Direct event, as well as rumors that a Nintendo Direct will happen on June 29 or around that date. A Nintendo Direct following the launch ofFire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopeswould make a ripe opportunity to announce aFire Emblemsequel.

For the moment, allFire Emblemfans have is a stack of rumors and leaks piled upon other rumors and leaks. These screenshots from a supposednewFire Emblemgameare persuasive, at the very least. Fans will have to maintain their patience for a while yet.Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopeswill arrive on June 22 and, if the rumors are true, a Nintendo Direct will follow. With luck, there could be a new main seriesFire Emblemgame arriving before the end of the year.

A newFire Emblemgame is rumored for the Nintendo Switch.
