Despite never being too familiar with the sport besides some casualFIFA, Reynolds and McElhenney have truly immersed themselves in the role of football club owners, withWelcome to Wrexhamdoing great with American audiences, despite the sport’s relative lack of popularity in the United States. Hence, it’s no surprise to see the docuseries getting greenlit for a second season, especially now that Wrexham AFC seems to be hitting the type of form the two owners might have expected after their sizable investments.

In usual Reynolds fashion, the actor dropped the news on his Twitter account, along with a wave of announcements that includeWelcome to Wrexhambeing nominated for two Critics' Choice Awards. Additional news includes the entire first season becoming available on Hulu and the fact that ESPN 2 will broadcast the Red Dragons' FA Cup qualifying match against the Blyth Spartans at 3:00 PM ET (12:00 PM PST). The pair also invited new Wrexham fans to slack off a bit using the #QuietQuitting, in yet another show of Reynolds' unique marketing style.
Reynolds and McElhenney completed their Wrexham purchase in November 2020. They then oversaw the latter part of a moderately good season for the club’s old standards in 2020/2021.Welcome to Wrexhamcovers both that periodand the following 2021/2022 campaign, which ended in disappointment as the Hollywood duo got their first taste of football heartbreak after being defeated in the promotion play-offs.
