Although the developers have remained tight-lipped on the ports, fans ofRusthave knownthe popular online game would be making its way to consolessince 2019. It’s recently been teasing that these new versions are closer to completion than ever, and today, it appears a firm release window has finally been confirmed.
According to a press release from Double Eleven,Rustwill be making its debut this Spring, bringing the game’s action-packed survival sim gameplay to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A specific release date hasn’t officially been confirmed, although seeing as Spring is fast approaching, both ports seem likely to launch sooner rather than later.

The console version of the game recently entered beta, with Facepunch Studios distributing keys to a select number of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players. The multiplayer test is a strong sign that the team is getting ready to drop the ports in the coming months, especially if reactions to the console versions are positive. For those who missed it,the studio also revealed a short trailer for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One ports last week, showing that little will change throughRust’stransition fromPC to consoles. The teaser came loaded with chaotic gunfights, post-apocalyptic weapons, and hectic multiplayer gameplay.
The pair of newRustports couldn’t come at a better time, with the online survival sim recently returning to prominence on Steam. It has made itself a fixture of the storefront’s weekly best sellers list, while streamers such as JackSepticEye and xQc have elevated it to the top of Twitch in recent months. Some of the livestreaming platform’s biggest staples even started a server on the game known as OfflineTV, which gave rise to plenty of fun collaborations. Although the idea has been a big draw forRust, it has created controversy, with the likes ofPokimane, Sodapoppin, and more quitting the server due to tension between its players.
Regardless,Rusthas managed to become a major player on Steam once againand is seemingly aiming to spread that success to PlayStation and Xbox. For those who’ve never played the game,Rustdrops players into a desolate and unforgiving post-apocalyptic landscape with the goal of surviving at any cost. They have to scavenge for resources, build bases, and team-up to survive, all the while being wary of other players who may be looking to loot their supplies.
