Watch Dogs: Legion, the dystopian open world hacker action game from Ubisoft has been out for a few months now, and while the initial response to the game was mixed, support for the game continues. Following in the footsteps of Rockstar’s open-world games,Watch Dogs: Legionis set to launch an online modethat could extend the game’s life further. Now a rumor that the game could be coming to Xbox Game Pass, if true, would also do a lot to keep the game in the spotlight a little longer.

Watch Dogs: Legion, like another AAA release from late 2020, suffered a bit from being a tad too ambitious. While Ubisoft created a believable dystopian London, there were a number ofmysteries and plot holes inWatch Dogs: Legionthat were never cleared up. Legion’s decision to not have one main protagonist is an interesting way to shake up the typical open world formula, but in a crowded market, it wasn’t enough to make the game really pop.

Which is why the rumor that theWatch Dogs: Legioncould end up in the Xbox Game Pass is very interesting. Industry insider and XboxEra podcast host Shpeshal Ed tweeted out a cryptic message with out-of-place capitalization on the words Game, Passes, and Legion. This seems to be intentional.

It could just be wishful thinking, but Ed has been on the mark in the past.Final Fantasy 7 Remakecoming to PlayStation Pluswas predicted by Ed, so he could be right aboutWatch Dogs: Legionas well. Putting the game on Game Pass would certainly raise its profile once again.

If the game moves onto the Xbox Game Pass, it will joinNBA 2K21, which landed on Game Pass recently. PuttingWatch Dogs: Legionon the Game Pass ahead of the March 23rd launch ofWatch Dogs: Legion Onlinewould be a solid strategy to get more players to give the game a try.

Recent updates have improved issues with the game, so perhaps the game is in good enough shape to be reborn on Xbox Game Pass. It is really key for online modes, like the one Ubisoft is planning to launch here, is to have a solid player base in place. The more folks logging in, the better the experience for players and the more potential revenue for Ubisoft. Folks who haven’t picked the game up yet could be swayed by its inclusion in the Xbox Game Pass, though they will just have to wait and see if this rumor turns out to be true or not.

Watch Dogs: Legionis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
