Summary
A few reliable sources have revealed thatGenshin Impactis doubling-down on Overload as an Elemental Reaction, as Arlecchino is rumored to be an on-field Overload DPS. While Sumeru was widely praised forintroducing the Dendro Element toGenshin Impact, Fontaine seems to be taking a second look at some of the more underutilized Elemental Reactions in the game. Version 4.3 saw the release of Navia, and though the state of Geo inGenshin Impactleaves a lot to be desired, the Demoiselle introduced an alternative way to use Crystallize in combat by transforming it into an offensive buff.
Genshin Impactwill add Gaming and Xianyunin Version 4.4, as the developers will attempt to expand the niche of Plunging Attacks beyond just Xiao (and arguably Kazuha). Given how much Gaming benefits from having Xianyun in his party, it’s safe to say that HoYoverse designed these two characters with synergy in mind. However, while Chevreuse has been a popular choice in Raiden’s Overload teams, there is a strong possibility that her best teammate hasn’t been released yet.
Albeit early, thelatestGenshin Impactleakcame via GenshinMeow on Telegram, as well as from AHQ – which states that Arlecchino will be an on-field DPS, that her ability kit will focus on Overload, and that her main damage source will not come from her Elemental Skill. Whereas Archon characters inGenshin Impactare primarily designed with Support in mind, the Harbingers released thus far have famously been “selfish” in their ability kit. One can play Raiden or Furina as an on-field DPS, but Tartaglia and Wanderer make for poor off-fielders. The leaks imply that Arlecchino will feature similarly “selfish” gameplay, and as a 5-Star Pyro Polearm character, she is rumored to wield a scythe as her Signature Weapon.
Players have been excited aboutArlecchino inGenshin Impactsince her reveal in the Teyvat Chapter Interlude Teaser, and it’s safe to say that HoYoverse has high expectations to fulfill. Given that AHQ and GenshinMeow have a good track record in Fontaine, fans should at least entertain the possibility of Arlecchino being made with Overload in mind. This would not only allow her to have synergy with Chevreuse (and thus characters like Beidou, Fischl, or Raiden), but it may also open up the possibility of Clorinde being a good teammate.
Other than releasing in Version 4.7, not much is known about Clorinde at the time. TheGenshin Impactcommunity speculates that she will be tied to Electro-Charged instead of Overload, while others are hoping that she will reinvent the Superconduct Elemental Reaction. With Version 4.5 releasing in mid-March, it may be a long time until players see Arlecchino and Clorinde’s kits in action, and as such, it’s important to remember that things could still change in the coming months.
