Robert Pattinson once expressed a humorous idea about how to bring Clayface to the big screen inThe Batman Part 2.

Batman: The Animated Seriesfeatures Clayface’s origin storyin the episode titled “Feat of Clay,” which shows the Batman villain as a disfigured actor who relies on an untested serum to keep his movie star good looks, only for the side effects to eventually turn against him, transforming him into the shape-shifting monster known as Clayface. The character is well known in the Batman rogue’s gallery and highlighted in the comics, theBatman Arkhamvideo games, and evenGotham Knights. The villain is also on the list of characters that Pattinson would like to see inThe BatmanPart 2.

During a Q&A for an early press screening ofThe Batman,Fandomasked Reeves if he could see fantastical elements in hisBatmanfranchise, whichReeves used Mr. Freeze as an exampleof how he is drawn to “unwinding the fantastical.” Reeves and Dylan Clarke agreed that Pattinson would be the one to disagree, stating that Pattinson would say something along the lines of, “Oh, my God, of course, we’re doing Clayface next!” Pattinson, who was described to be grinning, replied by recommending that they should “just get a guy and put some clay on his face!”

Deadline reports that Clayface may be inThe Batman Part 2or even arumored standalone Clayface moviethat was speculated to have been pitched byDoctor Sleepdirector Mike Flanagan. Regardless, the recent insider claims are consistent with reports that Reeves was meeting with writers to plan projects focusing on the Batman villains, “ranging from the Scarecrow to Clayface to Professor Pyg.” It seems like everything is on the table forThe Batmanfranchise, starting withThe Penguinseries that will act as a bridge betweenThe BatmanandThe Batman Part 2, potentially having Penguin in possession of the serum responsible for Clayface’s condition.

Speculation aside, Pattinson’s idea for Clayface may not be entirely off from the Golden Age adaptation. With the Joker and thePenguin’s masterful practical effectsin the first film, it could make for a truly unsettling adaptation of Clayface in a detective story that would have viewers question what is real and what isn’t for a villain that can turn his face into anyone else’s.

The Batman Part 2is scheduled to be released on June 17, 2025.
