Resident Evil Re:Versemight not be coming in May after all. There are now signs that the game mode is going to be pushed back, though nothing has been confirmed by Capcom just yet.
Resident Evil Re:Versewas announced as the multiplayer component ofVillage. Much likeResident Evil: Resistancewas a kind of surprise addition to theResident Evil 3remake,Re:Versewas announced quite a bit later thanVillage. Despite not getting a full unveil until January, Capcom said the two games would launch side by side andRe:Versewould be free for those who purchasedResident Evil Village.

However, one Twitter user recently noticed that the official website forResident Evil Re:Versedoesn’t list May as the release datefor the game. Instead, the site says the multiplayer mode is coming in “Summer 2021.” That user then asked community insider AestheticGamer aka Dusk Golem whether or notVillagewas getting delayed as well.
The insider alluded to the extreme unlikelihood ofResident Evil Villagegetting delayed. He pointed to the fact that there were players out there that had already finished the game. However, he added that he had heard there was a chanceRe:Versecould be delayed.
The idea the mode needs some work before it’s ready for prime time isn’t out of the realm of possibility. Not that long after theResident Evil Re:Versebeta launched Capcom had to suspend itdue to several technical issues. The company pointed to matchmaking issues as the main problem. However, that doesn’t mean those were the only issues, or that the problems have been entirely sorted out.
On the other hand, last weekCapcom launched a new open beta test. However, that particular testing period lasted just 24 hours. That doesn’t necessarily mean the company was trying to keep development issues under wrap. The company has actually been quite tight-fisted with access to its demos and betas for bothResident Evil VillageandRe:Verse.
Capcom recently staged its second demo of Village which, like the first two weeks ago, was only available for an eight-hour window on one particular day. However, in regards to the single-player game, there’s no indication the lack of access to the demo is anything more than wanting to keep a large part of the game under wraps until its official release. With just weeks until launch day, whether or notRe:Verseis delayed should be known soon.
Resident Evil Re:Verseis officially slated to hit PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on May 7.
