The remake ofResident Evil 4mixes B-movie cheese with sincere and dark overtones, but one modder decided the game needed a dose of silliness, so they jokingly gave Ashley Graham a more “canon” look with bigger ears. The consensus so far is thatCapcom’s latest remake definitely lives up to the hype, retaining what made the original 2005 release such a hit while switching up the formula enough to make it feel fresh. Of course, there’s always room for improvement, as the modding community has been keen to show.
Even before the game released, people were releasingmods for theResident Evil 4demo, which included upping the difficulty to insane levels, removing the timer so the demo is essentially infinite, and just straight up adding Shrek into the story. Let it never be said that gamers don’t know how to have fun with horror, and there’s a new mod forRE4that is both baffling and amusing in equal measure.

As spotted by The Gamer, Nexus Mods user Mal0 has released “Canon Ashley,” a mod for theResident Evil 4remake that gives Leon’s companion a Dumbo-style aesthetic. Essentially, her ears are now several times larger than usual, which makes this important character look quite ridiculous. The rationale behind this modification is that it makes the President’s daughter look more like her “OG design” from the 2005 game, when her ears were more noticeable. It’s obviously intended as a joke, but no doubt many will be amused enough to download it.
Ashley went through some changes for theResident Evil 4remake, bringing her up to modern standards. Most players will immediately notice that she’s not as bratty as she was in the original. However, as she’s the linchpin of the main story, she still retains her vulnerability, but without being overtly sexualized. Her role in the game is of great importance for Leon, so it was vital for Capcom to get her character right for this modern take on a classic. Evidently, Mal0 felt she wasn’t complete without some gigantic ears.
Theremake may be slightly shorter than the originalResident Evil 4, but that’s only because the studio was able to remove some of the more unnecessary parts. However, the addition of side quests extends things by a decent amount, though it still falls slightly short of the original, which can take around 30 hours to 100% finish.
Resident Evil 4is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
