It may just be a demo, but fans of the upcoming remake ofResident Evil 4have already been conjuring up some tricks, such as one that makes it possible to avoid getting grabbed by enemies. Springing forth from one of themost influential horror games of all time, the fourth entry in Capcom’s flagship horror series is considered by many to be the best of the bunch. Not that there’s anything wrong with the original three, butRE4just took things to the next level.
Given how lauded the 2005 release is, it’s not surprising that so many are looking forward to the remake. There’s not long to wait now until it launches, but in the meantime, fans can get to grips with theResident Evil 4demo that came out recently. Unlike the demo ofRE8, this one offers a small section of the opening rather than being a timed trial. However, despite its shortness, there are already some tricks that are being figured out.

AResident Evil 4fan who goes by LustFire on Reddit has worked out how to avoid getting grabbed by enemies in the demo. A brief clip shows that by ducking just as a Ganados approaches with its arms outstretched, the infected villager won’t be able to grapple with Leon Kennedy. LustFire then goes one step further by using the combat knife to slice at the enemy’s arms, severing them in the process. It seems to be a relatively easy trick to pull off, though it may take a bit of practice, but the difference in how it affects combat should be a winner for those who hate having to free themselves from an enemy’s grasp.
Whether Capcom will patch LustFire’s trick out before the game’s full release remains to be seen. It may even be considered a legitimate tactic. And in case figuring out a maneuver to make combat a bit easier wasn’t enough, one modder has already figured out how to get theResident Evil 4remake demo working in VR. It shows just how dedicated gamers are, getting as much as they can from something so short.
Speaking of combat,Resident Evil 4changes things for the remake, including adding the ability to parry. With many getting the most out of the recent demo, excitement for the full release will no doubt be peaking right about now. Once the game launches, it will be interesting to see what other tricks players can discover.
Resident Evil 4 Remakeis set to release on July 13, 2025, for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
