The Engineer is a sci-fi-themed Archetype that plays slightly differently from the rest ofRemnant 2’splayable classes. It specializes in zone control via automated turrets that can be picked up and used as heavy weapons, which players can use to lay down some impressive firepower against the Root and the rest of the game’s monsters.

Playing as an Engineer inRemnant 2can be a little tricky at first. Getting the most out of this Archetype isn’t as simple as the others. However, there’s a ton of potential here, and much of it can be unlocked by equipping the right gear and approaching combat with the proper mindset.

Remnant 2 Tank Engineer Build

The following is a high-endurance Engineer build that takes advantage of the Archetype’s heavy weapons to deal massive damage to both groups and single targets. Players will constantly be low on health with this setup but with the sheer number of defensive effects stacked in this build, they’ll practically be immortaleven on Nightmare difficulty.

Vulcan or Flamethrower

The Engineer Archetype from Remnant 2

This build focuses on using either the Vulcan or Flamethrower turrets as heavy weapons, which means players are free toselect any Long Gun and Hand Gunthey prefer. Mods that leave lasting damage effects, like Firestorm or Nano Swarm complement heavy weapons by constantly damaging enemies even while their attached weapons are stowed.

The main core of the build lies in accessory selection.Restriction Cordlimits the player’s max HP to 50%. Doing so means players also get two stacks of Bulwark up at all times as well as a 15% damage reduction fromRusted HeirloomandHardened Coil, respectively. Upon getting hit, players receive even more damage reduction viaHardcore Metal BandandIndignant Fetish.

In order to regain health, players must invest Trait Points into Siphoner, which can be obtained by completing the event at the randomly-spawning Dormant N’Erudian Facility dungeon on N’Erud. This grants 3% Lifesteal when maxed, and it can be made stronger by combining it with Regrowth’s passive healing and Triage’s bonus to all healing received. Getting the latter two involves getting the Summoner and Medic Archetypes to the max level. The Unsullied Heart also makes for a great panic button since it only takes half a second to use.

The Leto Mark II armor set works extremely well when combined withthe Challenger Archetype. The Fortify Trait boosts its already-massive armor point total, while Strongback makes the armor set lighter, allowing players to roll when dodging instead of just belly-flopping. Feel free to mix and match armor pieces to achieve the desired weight encumbrance limit.

Gameplay-wise, hold down the Vulcan/Flamethrower to equip them in both hands, then press the skill button again to activate the High Tech Prime Perk, which grants unlimited heavy weapons ammo and increased mobility. Then, stand in the middle of a group or in front of a boss and hold down the trigger. Players should have enough defenses and lifesteal to survive most encounters even without dodging.

Remnant 2is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
