Following months of inactivity and afan protest in Red Dead Online, Rockstar Games has finally released a new update for its award-winningRed Dead Redemption 2. The bulk of the update focuses on new content for the Red Dead Online multiplayer mode, but it also includes a helpful new feature for Story Mode that should be a pretty decent quality of life improvement for those still playing through the story.

After downloading the latest update,Red Dead Redemption 2players will find a weapon locker in their Story Mode game from Chapter 2 onward. The weapon locker has been in Red Dead Online for quite some time, so it’s nice to see the helpful feature make its way to Story Mode. As its name implies, the weapon locker is a way forRed Dead Redemption 2players to store weapons that they aren’t using at the moment.

This update will no doubt be appreciated byRed Dead Redemption 2fans who are still playing the single player story, but some may be anxious for more substantial story mode content. While there was some speculation that Rockstar could be preparing anUndead Nightmare-style expansion forRed Dead Redemption 2, nothing official has been announced to date.

It seems as though Rockstar is busy working on other projects, like thenext-generationGrand Theft Auto 5portand whatever its next big, original project is. That doesn’t mean that moreRed Dead Redemption 2story content couldn’t eventually come at some point down the line, but fans of the game shouldn’t hold their breath. It’s likely that the majority of new content will still be aimed at the Red Dead Online mode for the foreseeable future.

In the meantime, it will be interesting to see if Rockstar Games bringsRed Dead Redemption 2to PS5 and Xbox Series X, and if so, if that version of the game will have any new content.Grand Theft Auto 5on PS5 and Xbox Series X won’t have new content for the story mode, but it will reportedly feature aboost to the GTA Online player count, so who’s to say a next-genRDR2couldn’t have similar enhancements?

While fans wait for more information on potential futureRed Dead Redemption 2updates or news onRockstar’s next game, whatever it may be, they can see how the weapon locker enhances the game’s single player experience in the meantime.

Red Dead Redemption 2is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
