Tactical multiplayer FPSRainbow Six Siegehas unveiled its newest timed event. The event, titled Apocalypse, is coming toRainbow Six Siegelater this week.

Like most online shooters in the modern games industry,Rainbow Six Siegehas received a variety of timed events that give players access to new cosmetics and content for playing the game during a specific window. The game has seen a wide variety of different events, from the alien invasion Outbreak event toRainbow Six Siege’s pink-glazed Rainbow is Magic event. Now,Rainbow Six Siege’s newest event reimagines some of its variety of operators and weapons in a post-apocalyptic setting.

The new event sees two factions fighting over the last plant on earth. One faction, The Keepers, is comprised of operators Maestro, Melusi, Rook, Smoke, and Valkyrie. The Keepers are hopeful that the plant can be used to redeem humanity and bring about a new era of human prosperity. Their opposition, The Warband, is made up of Fuze, Gridlock, Maverick, Nomad, and Twitch. The Warband wants the plant for power and is more willing to do whatever it takes to survive. AllRainbow Six Siegeplayers have a favorite operator, so hopefully, plenty of players are happy with the ones being paid attention to during this new event.

The event will also allow players to play on a new version of the Outback map that has been redesigned to be set during the apocalypse. The map will see the attacking team attempting to defuse the container holding the last plant on Earth while defenders try to protect it. An interesting new feature of the map is that defenders are able to move the plant container around the map while attackers have a new scan available to them to help determine which room the plant is sitting in, an interestingnew change toRainbow Six Siege’s tactical gameplay.

For any players interested in seeing the event for themselves, it is running from May 4 to May 18, and also brings with it 35 new cosmetic items to unlock and operator bundles that are available for purchase. The event’s announcement does come soon after some ofRainbow Six Siege’s community began staging a boycottover the game’s anti-cheat issues, but Ubisoft has yet to comment on the boycott. Hopefully, the developers will be able to address any concerns with the game’s anti-cheat system in due time, but until then, the Apocalypse event looks like a treat for any players still in the game.

Rainbow Six Siegeis available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
