The world ofPokemonsees people work together with the creatures of the world in interesting ways. Pokemon can be seen doing construction work in cities, working alongside law enforcement and nurses, and even scaring people in haunted houses.

Farms exist inPokemon, but outside of a few examples, it’s never really made clear which Pokemon thrive in this environment. From Miltank to Lechonk (revealed forPokemon Scarlet & Violet),Pokemon’s roster has plenty of pocket monsters that would fit in perfectly on a bustling farm and offer value in a variety of ways and circumstances.
8Torchic
Chickens are a staple to any farm, and though the world ofPokemonlacks an actual chicken Pokemon, it does have something very similar. Torchic, the third-generationFire-type starter, obviously resembles a small chick, but its final form named Blaziken is also said to be loosely based on Shamo chickens.
The Shamo chicken is native to Japan and is a taller species known for its effectiveness in the world of cockfighting. With this in mind, farmers would likely do best to give their Torchics Everstones that prevent the tiny birds from evolving, just to be safe.
7Noctowl
The last things farmers want to deal with are Rattata and other Pokemon vermin destroying their crops or attacking their livestock. That’s why something like Noctowl is necessary for the ecosystem of a farm to operate effectively.

In the Pokedex, it’s said that Noctowl never fails at catching its prey in the dark, meaning that it will always deliver. The farmer should be the trainer of the Noctowl, though, just to prevent it from hunting the Torchic, or other small animals on the property.
6Lechonk
Right now, little is known about Lechonkas it is one of the few newly revealedPokemon set to debut inPokemon Scarlet&Violet. Pigs are the backbone of farms and though it’s unclear if Lechonk evolves from or into any other Pokemon, it’s clear it is the best representation of actual pigs the series has ever seen.
All of the other pig-based Pokemon tend to drift in a more fantastical direction, whereas Lechonk functions as nothing more than a rotund black big. As such, there’s a strong argument to be made that Lechonk belongs on a farm more than most other Pokemon.
5Gogoat
Recently, there’s been a trend where people hire a truck full of goats to come to their property and eat all of the weeds and wild vegetation on their land. ThePokemonequivalent of that would likely be the Kalos region’s Gogoat, the final evolutionary form of Skiddo.
Gogoat is naturally empathetic and tends to build strong bonds with its trainer. Having an animal as loyal, dutiful, and understanding as Gogoat at one’s side would likely warm the heart of any farmer willing enough to catch and train this underrated Pokemon.
4Boltund
When looking at which canine-related Pokemon would best serve a farm as a herding dog, it came down to Herdier and Boltund. The latter ended up edging out its furrier compatriot simply due to its ability to run constantly for long periods of time.
Keeping herd animals in line and having a dog that can efficiently herd them into and out of their pens can reduce the amount of time dedicated to the task. This will allow the farmers to focus on other jobs around the farm and gives them one less thing to worry about in an already stressful line of work.
3Ponyta
The first time Ash Ketchum and his friends encounter a Ponyta in the anime is when they come across Laramie Ranch. This place is home to plenty of wonderful Pokemon and is the location in which Ash participates in aPokemonrace.
Horses are more of a ranch animal than they are a farm, but, at the end of the day, the two tend to go hand-in-hand. Also, depending on how large the farm is, some people might want to ride a Ponyta across the property.
2Wooloo
In order for a farm to become self-sustaining, it helps to have animals that provide material that can be used to make clothes, blankets, and other products. That’s where the fluffy ball of wool known as Wooloo comes in.

This Pokemon isnative to the Galar regionand was introduced in the eighth generation of games,Pokemon Sword & Shield. It is said that if the fleece on Wooloo isn’t maintained that the overgrowth will lead to the creature being unable to move. Genetically it seems that it evolved in a way where it naturally wants to be shaved and taken care of so it can synergize with farm life quite easily.
1Miltank
Anyone who played eitherPokemon Gold & Silveror their remakes will likely remember coming across Moomoo Farm. This location was found on Route 39 and was home to a bunch of milk-producing Miltank. When the series itself showcases a creature that already exists on farms canonically, it’s easy to place it as the Pokemon most deserving of being on a farm.
Weirdly enough, Miltank is also the only Pokemon solely based on a cow, so it’s not like it has any competition there. Producing milk can help sustain a farm as it provides consistent income, and with how famous the taste and quality of Miltank milk is, any farmer would be dumb not to have these creatures in their operational plans.
