A newPokemon GOupdate has been announced. The update contains code that reveals exciting new features coming toPokemon GO.
One of the features found within the code is the introduction of Shadow Eggs. Shadow Eggs are most likely a new type of egg that will hatch Shadow Pokemon.Shadow Pokemon appear at Pokestops that are occupied by Team Rocket. Shadow Pokemon can be caught after defeating Team Rocket in a trainer battle.

Shadow Pokemon have many different characteristics than normal Pokemon. Visually, they have red eyes and a dark purple aura around them. Additionally, the unknown process that converts them into Shadow Pokemon, also removes their emotions, making them appear to lack any expressions. Shadow Pokemon all have the same charged attack, Frustration. Frustration can be replaced with another charged attack through the process of Purification. This can only be achieved with a certain number of Stardust and Candy. The number of Stardust and Candy is determined by the strength and rarity of the Pokemon, aslegendary Shadow Pokemon require much more Stardust and Candy. Purification converts the Shadow Pokemon into an improved version, upgrading stats and replacing the dark aura and red eyes with a bright aura.
Currently, there are four different types of eggs that can be obtained inPokemon GO. They are ranked based on distance needed to travel to hatch them. It is not known what the required distance travelled will be to hatch Shadow Eggs. Shadow Pokemon are typically stronger and harder to catch, however, they do pose a challenge when raising them, because some actions are restricted, such as changing or deleting moves. This can only be fixed through Purification. It also enables the Pokemon to be traded. It is believed that Pokemon hatched from Shadow Eggs will have the same qualities.
Pokemon GOis introducing many new features and events in 2020. Safari Zones have been announced for St. Louis, Philadelphia, and Liverpool. Safari Zones are events exclusive to a certain area, where rare Pokemon appear for a limited time. The first ever player-voted Community Day will be in February. Voting is done by players to determine the Pokemon featured on Community Day. There have also been announcements for a new competitive mode named Go Battle Hub, as well as potentially a deeper weather system that would introduce varying levels of weather reflected in the game.
