Although the latestPokemon GOupdate just released, details and leaks on the next addition to the codebase are already arriving. One of the biggestimprovements toPoGOsince its messy launchhas been a dedication to very frequent updates that both address bugs and add new features. The developers don’t seem to be slowing down and the next batch of datamined code hints at a very exciting new opportunity.

Like in most mobile games, some items inPokemon GOare locked behind paywalls. The Store’s currency can be earned in-game, but it’s a slow process and requires daily dedication to defending Gyms. That may be changing sometime in the near future according to some interesting new code found in the game.

The datamined code seems to suggest that there will eventually be a way to earn Coins viaResearch Tasks, in addition to the Gym Coins. The code doesn’t offer any details about how many Coins this will be or whether they count towards the daily cap already in place on Gym earnings.

Come back tomorrow to earn more PokéCoins

There aren’t many details to work with here, but there’s no denying that this could be a very exciting development for many players. The Gym grind is not the most exciting part ofPokemon GOfor some players, so it is a bit disappointing that it is currently the only way to earn the currency in-game. Mixing things up and allowing for Coins to be earned by completing Daily Research Tasks would be an exciting change and seems like the kind of thing that fans of the game would be in support of.

The rest of the datamined code related to some new Quests, newTeam Rocket Challenges, a Best Buddy Badge, and Deerling Forms. This update to the Deerling Forms hopefully suggests that those will be launching sometime in the near future, as well.

For now, players may want to keep hunting downthe best Unova Pokemon in the gameif improving their Battle Raid rosters is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for morePokemon GOstrategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
