Each generation of thePokemonfranchise has produced numerous recognizable Grass-type Pokemon. From Solar Beam to Giga Drain, these Pokemon have powerful moves and can be a great addition to any team. As a tribute to a pair ofGrass-type Pokemon from the first generation, one player 3D printed Oddish and Bulbasaur but as planters.
Pokemonas a franchise has been around for over two decades and produced hundreds of different designs. Bulbasaur and Oddish were introduced in the first generation and each incorporated plants in their looks. Recently, one artist tried to copy these designs in real life.

In a Reddit post, u/Tylarthefarmer shows a delightful pair ofPokemon-themed planters for their plants. The left planter appears to be an Oddish, the Grass andPoison-type Pokemonmodeled after a blue plant bulb. The planter matches the blue skin tone of the Pokemon perfectly, and it even has the Pokemon’s pair of short legs. U/Tylarthefarmer also planted a long grass-like plant in this planter to make the whole design appear like the original Pokemon. On the right side of the image is a 3D-printed version of Bulbasaur. Similar to the first planter, this design matches the original quite well and is probably functional. The colors as well as the pattern on the planter will immediately make even most casual fans recognize this Pokemon. On top of this, planted within this pot is a small cactus that acts as a replacement for the large plant on the original Pokemon’s back.
U/Tylarthefarmer makes it clear in their post that though they printed these planters, the original designers for the Oddish and Bulbasaur are ustkl and LeoDuhVinci on Thingverse, respectively. These designers did an excellent job to replicate what the Pokemon look like while leaving enough space for those who print this to fit a small plant. U/Tylarthefarmer also mentions that the Bulbasaur took 5 hours to print while the Oddish took over double at 11 hours.
Bulbasaur and Oddish are two of the more interesting Grass-type Pokemon in the first generation of designs, and their unique looks make them natural planters. WithBulbasaur being one of the original Pokemon startersand Oddish eventually evolving into Vileplume, players likely turned to these two often in their game, and they work even better in this form.
Then again, there are other options for players to go with if they are looking to take advantage of all thatGrass-type Pokemon have to offer. On top of that, Squirtle and Charmander are both great options when it comes to starting one of the early games in thePokemonfranchise. Either way, thisPokemonfan has a great pair of planters thanks to some impressive 3D designs.
