Sporting record sales numbers for the franchise on the Switch,Pokemon Legends: Arceushas been a massive success. With millions of copies sold and a heavily active playerbase,Pokemon Legends: Arceus' unique open-world direction marks a potential shift in the genres of futurePokemongames.
Along with plenty of feature and gameplay changes, the game also added new Pokemon for players to collect. This varies from Alpha Pokemon such asPokemon Legends: Arceus' menacing Alpha Ursaringto new forms and evolutions of previously existing Pokemon.

Specifically, the new forms andevolutions introduced inPokemon Legends: Arceusare loved by many fans, especially with Pokemon that fans felt deserved an evolution such as Basculin. However, though many older Pokemon received a new evolution or form, some were left out and others were not even included in the game. One of these excluded Pokemon was Staryu and its evolution Starmie. Perhaps in response to the exclusion, Reddit user Sudenvarjo decided to take matters into their own hands, designing a worthy evolution for the star-shaped Pokemon
Sudenvarjo’s fan art of the Starmie evolution is breathtaking, perhaps as much or more so thanPokemon Legends: Arceus' shiny Spiritomb. The design takes heavy inspiration from its pre-evolution while adding new pieces and additions that add to Starmie’s form.
With the addition of new evolutions, forms, and Alpha Pokemon such asPokemon Legends: Arceus' Rufflet, the opportunity for Pokemon like Sudenvarjo’s concept art are more than possible. Instead, it is most likely just a matter of time until popular Pokemon like Starmie receive a new form or evolution. The same goes for other popular Pokemon as well, and if the popularity of all these new Pokemon among players is anything to go by, Game Freak will be adding many more to its future games.
This hope bodes well for the franchise’s future, asPokemon Legends: Arceushas innovated on almost every facet and feature ofPokemongames created so far. From changing the genre entirely, to reimagining and redefining catching Pokemon and battling, to RPG elements that bring new challenges and value to player actions,Pokemonhas probably never felt so fresh to new and returning trainers. Due to the game’s success, perhaps the next game will seePokemon Legends: Arceusplayers heading to Johtofor a similar adventure.
